"Had dinner for two at Nebraska Steakhouse this past Saturday evening and would have to describe the experience as mediocre at best. For weekend dinner, the place was a ghost town and most of the staff were mulling about and watching March Madness on the bar TV screens. One of the staff members, a younger gentleman who appeared to be a server, made an unsolicited comment to my boyfriend regarding women's lack of sports knowledge after eavesdropping on our conversation. Not only was he not a part of our conversation and not our server, he was flat out bold and rude. I have no idea where that level of audacity came from, but it left us incredibly irritated. The restaurant manager should take note and consider discussing proper service etiquette with their staff. That issue aside, our particular server, albeit very friendly, had to return to our table multiple times to inform us that parts of our order were unavailable. We inquired about multiple bottles of wine on the menu, none of which were in stock. The server then recommended a house red, which we ordered based on sheer lack of options (was not great). He later returned to notify us that they were out of the Tomato and Mozzarella salad (AND out of crab cakes, seared tuna, baked clams and a variety of other menu items). Basically, less than a third of the appetizers were available. We ended up ordering Shrimp Cocktail from the raw bar which actually was quite good. While both our entrée choices were available, my Filet Mignon which I'd requested be cooked medium, came out rare, bordering raw- cold to touch in the center. My boyfriend, who also had ordered a medium cooked cut, received his almost well done. I sent my filet back to be cooked further and even on the second try, it was not medium, but closer to medium rare. Our side of asparagus was good, while the creamed spinach lacked flavor. It comes as no surprise that the restaurant was nearly empty. With small improvements, they'd do a much better business."
