"UPDATE2: Still awesome a year later! UPDATE: Returned with my Real Boss and she liked it! Had Kalukkodi Chicken, Parota with Egg, and Ghee Dosa. All were good. Parota was so flaky we ordered extra to take home. (Updated pics) Food was fantastic! Spiced just right. Had Egg Kalakki and Mysore Dosa. Service was a bit slow but that 's expected now in a pandemic. Will try again on my next business trip."

"The food at this restaurant is excellent. My wife and I, both vegetarians, frequently visit this place. The only drawback is that the service can be slow at times. There have been occasions where we have had to wait longer than expected for our food when dining in. Additionally, when ordering take-out, there have been instances where the food was not ready on time. Once, I arrived to pick up my order and they processed my payment before informing me that the food wasn't ready, resulting in a long wait of over an hour. If ordering take-out, it is advisable not to pay until you have received your food."

"The food was OUTSTANDING. We ordered Mutter Paneer and Chicken Tikka Masala (along with Buttered Nan) and I was in heaven from the first bite ‘til the last, savoring the exquisitely artful blend of exotic flavors, delighted with each fragrant forkful. If you dine here, you’ll be treated to some of the finest Indian cuisine in the Greater Phoenix area. The service needs serious attention in order to bring it up to the level of the food. Our waiter seemed as though he’d never been trained in service, let alone supervised; when he finally delivered the bill to me covered with grease, it was a fitting finish to his long line of careless and clueless service faux pas. Fortunately, my elation over the quality of the food helped me look past his ineptitude. I would have brought this to the attention of the owner or manager, but there seemed to be no one over the waiter who had anything more than a “J.V.” (Junior Varsity) understanding of fine dining service. Also, there were numerous things broken in the restaurant (the booths are unusable; do not try sitting in them; the table have much better lighting anyway; and numerous items in the rest room were broken and unusable; this is a theme throughout this restaurant). The chef here is so excellent that I must stress that this restaurant is a culinary treasure for our community. If Chennai Chettinaad Palace brings in a front-of-house manager to train the waitstaff in proper service and attention to detail and brings the service here up to the same level as the outstanding food served at this restaurant, it could be one of the finest restaurants in North Phoenix. Please support this restaurant. You will be absolutely delighted by the outstanding quality of the cuisine served here. And I hope that the owners/managers will take action so that in the future we can also be delighted by the quality of the service experience as well."

"This is such a bizarre experience. We’re (group of 7) sitting here waiting for our food. Three dishes have arrived over the course of about 30 mins and I have no idea when the rest will arrive. As a side note, this place is an accessibility nightmare. Barely enough room for my elderly grandmother with a normal sized walker to come in past the host stand and first few tables. Very strange place. The waiter just sort of came over and stared at us when it was time to order.Update: food was absolutely delicious once it all arrived. But we’re now just sitting here waiting on the cheque—have been for a while. These folks don’t seem to have heard of “anticipatory service.”Wheelchair accessibility: Not good."

"Despite the humdrum name that touches on every Indian restaurant cliche Clay Oven Tandoor Indian Grill serves exquisite food of great complexity that compares favorably with the creations I've enjoyed at some of India's finest restaurants! Do yourself a favor: set aside an evening with friends (or simply with a loved one) to experience culinary greatness, preferably on a less crowded weeknight. "the first time they've been here for years. the waiter antonio was very polite and attentive. he kept our waterglasses filled and cleared our dishes quickly. he was also very helpful with recommendations. every suggestion was spot on. everything was tasteful and well prepared. the atmosphere was also very relaxed. perfect for a quiet date or business lunch. we were here at 12:30 on Wednesday and sat right away. we are coming back to the final. highly recommended."

"We dropped early (6:15) and greeted immediately. We soon enjoyed the tamarinden Auberginen-Appetizer (sweet, stinginging, delightful), the lamb corma (creamy and dreamy with fluffy basmati rice) and the Tandoori shrimp (plump shrimps and veggies with a complex but mild sauce). We will soon return to this excellent restaurant."

"hidden over this place when we went to check English book, they had a completely separate vegan menu. that had a lot to choose in starters, curries, naan brot and of course dosas. they also had a great vegan lunch offer where they had a tablet with 3 curries, rice, naan brot and some cut veg for $7! and they also did every veggie dosas for $8. we have lunch and shared a dosa and they were massive. would recommend this place. local business, good eating, amazing price can not ask for more!"

"Not what I've come to expect from Indian buffets. No soup or pakora or samosas. Two options of white rice varieties. Only tiny bottles of water and cold, flavorless Indian tea. The naan was dry. The shrimp curry was so salty that it was basically inedible. Pieces of chicken in the butter chicken were mostly bone. The other dishes I tried were lacking in flavor or so strongly of one overpowering flavor, like the paneer which was just smoky and nothing else."

"Phenomenal experience!!! I only got take-out but the owner her staff were all incredibly welcoming very attentive of my needs the entire time I was there. Everything from the decor, to the taste of my dishes, service, were all perfectly on point. This is a Twin Cities MUST EAT spot for certain, if you haven't already been here!! You can truly feel see the authenticity of this restaurant with the ambiance they've created the food they offer. I can't wait to be back for more, and actually dine in with them once the pandemic is over!"

"let me start this review by stating that I can only imagine for a lacto-vegetarian, this place must be amazing! my man and I went late afternoon, an hour or so before the buffet ended, and it was still swung with people! we had to wait for a table, and it wasn't even the height of lunch! not only that, but it is a very popular place at people who speak with the authenticity of eating. after said, it is not a very vegan friendly situation. while I have read reviews below that say differently when I called earlier to confirm that it is what we could eat on the buffet, the person seemed to be extremely satisfied. he said he thought there were two or three things. when we arrived, as I did in the vegetarian buffet, I asked one of the server to walk through the vegan items on the buffet. he didn't seem to be sure, so I asked another one who made me through. again he did not seem to be sure (and he was not compatible with the last server.) I wondered if a manager has run through me . . again did not identify the same amount of vegan friendly items. objects that should have been vegan, we were told that only a little milk. we found that all 3 individuals had pointed out a common object and the rice. we were very disappointed. if we hadn't been a hurry to make it a date, we might have sat down and run through the menu in detail. . . . or gone somewhere."

"really delicious Indian food in cranberry. I didn't order much today, but everything I had was more than satisfactory. today's order consisted of channa bhatura (chickpea curry with big puffy brot) and kheer. the actual kicherbsenkur was very good. I'm sure the full channa masala meal is also amazing because the soße has for me exactly the right amount of seasoning, which is great because I couldn't find a way to add seasoned online. there were big cockerbsen in the curry and it was not too oily. his toppings were interesting: cilantro and rohe wobbles. not a big fan of tweeting. also the part of the curry is a little small. the Bhatura-Brot, on the other hand, was very big and as the description said it was quite puffy! some parts of broth were on the oily side, others were crispy. I think it was perfect overall close. it is particularly delicious when they warm it up; then the tasteful oil and salt is more obvious what I enjoy. it gets a bit crispy when it warms. I loved the guy. usually my way to Indian dessert gulab jamun. but I have heard that tamarinds gulab jamuns are very small and are not worth the price. the Kheer share was fair for the price (not small, not big) it was super creamy and sweet! I loved the addition of all nuts, such as cashews and rusts as well as some other almost juicy fruits. overall I have tamarind on my cranberry radar. eating is not too expensive and it is high quality. Although I have not tried much, I can still say that it is a solid restaurant that I would recommend."

"Food was average. The owner was too loud and was sitting at another table. The person who took the order had absolutely no idea about the food. On a positive note the daal was good. It prevented the rating from slide down further to a 1 star."

"The restaurant needs to inform customers who have reserved a table for future dates that they will be closing soon. Additionally, the staff should be more attentive to unannounced closures and improve service in the bathroom area."

"The Indian food at Tamarind in Cranberry is really delicious. I didn't order a lot today, but everything I tried was more than satisfying. I had the channa bhatura (Chickpea Curry with puffy bread) and kheer. The chickpea curry was excellent, and I'm sure the full channa masala meal is equally amazing. The sauce had just the right amount of spices for me, which was great since I couldn't adjust the spice levels online. The curry had large chickpeas and wasn't too oily. The toppings of cilantro and raw onions were interesting, although I'm not a big fan of onions. The portion of curry was a bit small, but the bhaturabrot was large and puffy, as described. Some parts of the bread were oily while others were crispy, which I found to be perfect. It was especially delicious when reheated, bringing out the flavors of the oil and salt. The Kheer was also a hit, with whole nuts, cashews, raisins, and other fruits adding a nice touch. Overall, Tamarind in Cranberry offers high-quality and reasonably priced food. Though I haven't tried a lot, I can confidently say it's a solid restaurant worth recommending."

" safe bet to say that ordering takeout from this restaurant would be a better experience than dining in. Unfortunately, the service was quite terrible when my group visited on Wednesday Dosa Night without knowing what to expect."
