"Stopped in for a later than normal supper after our son's school musical. He had the kid's bento box with double edamame side. I had sushi and salad which was the perfect amount of food while the hubs had poke bowl. Son finished his meal with brownie covered in icecream for an additional $1. Our server was friendly and quick on her feet."

"I ordered the surf and turf with mashed potatoes and it was ok. For the price it was a very small dish, I got the filet and shrimp skewer. It was tasty but just a small serving. The price was too high in my opinion. The mashed potatoes were not the best, looked like they came from a cafeteria. My boyfriend ordered the Kona stir fry and he said it was flavorful but also a smaller portion than what he thought. The server was super friendly and so was the staff, I do not see myself ordering that again if I come back."

"Extremely expensive, food good not great, portions small for the price. Went for anniversary and they didn’t even acknowledge although we mentioned on open table comments when reserving. Server seemed to have a very bad cold and looked like they belonged in bed, let’s not mention possible germs. Not worth the money. Appetizer, two drinks over $50, add two entrees and with tax and tip well over $150, for lunch. We’ll pass."

"You got to love a place that is open for all the major holidays. The Christmas menu is only limited a little but the prices were higher which is expected if they need to make it worth it for the staff. The group I was with really enjoyed their food especially the sliders and the sushi. I was even was able to get stuffing instead of fries since you need to eat stuffing on Christmas even if you don't like white meat turkey. Service was good and didn't hurry us. I think I will plan to be back next holidays if not sooner."

"The only issue I had with the place concerned the attitude of the hostess desk. I made a reservation for 8 people. However, I realized I forgot one person who was participating in a golf tournament and we didn't know he would definitely be there until he showed up. The reservation was on a Sunday at 7:00 p.m. I explained the situation and asked whether or not the table we would be at would accommodate adding a ninth chair to it should he show up. I received a bit of resistance and attitude like this could not be done since the reservations for 7:00 p.m. were full and it might require too much work to accommodate this request. I was told that I should call as soon as I knew whether or not this person was coming. I told her I could not do that since the golf tournament may not be over by 7 and my person may not be able to let me know his attendance until right at 7 or after. However, when I arrived at the restaurant, there were other people there. But it was not even a quarter full. By the time 7:00 p.m. came and went, we ended up being about the only table in the restaurant. We could have sat anywhere in the restaurant and would have been fine to add or take away people from the table. When you work in customer service, it's important to convey to the customer that we can do anything for you within normal requests and whatever has to be done behind the scenes to fulfill the requests are not the customer's concerns. I did not encounter this approach. I was disappointed."

"overall the experience was okay. the bill came out to $110 in front of the tipp and this included 2 drinks, a appetizer, 2 entrees and gloomy. the weinlist was impressive with several tasty options in any great category, but the Margarita flight was not great. the food and the service were also okay, the carrot cake was our favorite at the end. our server was very happy all the time and did not care for our meal as desired. there was also another server that had her long hair working down. at the end I felt that the experience was not worth the price. I'm not mad at my experience, but I'm probably not going to return to the future."

"While I’m sure the other menu items are good, vegan options are extremely limited. We ended up with a bowl of edamame, a vegetarian sushi roll that was on average, and the oriental salad that was at $11 disappointing. Mostly only a plate of shredded Napa cauliflower. There are no vegan ducks or sandwiches, and no vegan items on the happy hour menu. I asked the server if something else could be made vegan on the menu and the answer was no. If you are strictly vegan, my proposal is to go elsewhere. The only reason I stayed is that I was with non-vegan family who had already ordered."

"Went here for Father’s Day. Hostess was unfriendly. Said she didn’t have our reservation. After a few minutes she said she found it but blamed the system. Waited 20 minutes for them to set up a table even though the restaurant was half empty. Service was one of the worst I’ve experienced. Said they didn’t have menu items that were clearly on the menu, brought multiple incorrect food and drink orders, brought one main course 15 minutes before the others, didn’t bring small plates for appetizers after being asked twice, kept needed to being asked for water refills. Wasn’t because the restaurant was busy either. Have been here before and had decent service but food and service have both gone downhill. Will not be returning."

"The food was excellent, it is just the customer service could have been better especially when it came to attentiveness to details. "Our waitress was ok. Started off a little rocky but it got better. I ordered a margarita flight which comes with 3 frozen margaritas. When I received it, I got one watermelon, a lime and one IDK what flavor. I asked for strawberry but no clue what it was. None of the margaritas were dressed. When asked why was there no salt or sugar on the rim, she had no idea she simply said we don’t do that on the flights. That was a new one to for me but I dropped it, honestly didn’t feel like debating. My did order the rubs and said they were burnt. She was happy to return those for something different. My daughter ordered the cilantro chicken and same issue had to return it for something different. She was very accommodating."

"Pretty place, but overpriced for the contents. Service was terrible. Waited 10 minutes to get our drinks ordered (water and a sake), 5 more minutes before receiving the waters and to hear they were out of hot sake. Placed order for appetizer when initial drink order was received, received 20 minutes in. Server was hardly present and we had to flag down a busser for refills on our waters during our meal as server did not check in until after that fact (about 15 minutes into dinner course). Restaurant was about at 20% capacity at this time. It seemed like he was only there to socialize behind the partition and did not provide the service that would match the decor. Food was edible but once again, not really matching the decor or pricing. We will not be returning."

The manager tried to make things better but was rude and unprofessional, ultimately turning his back on us and telling us to have a nice day. "This Kona Grill location has beautiful wall artwork, an amazing curved aquarium and cool bar design. Sadly many of the booth seats need repair.
