"This sushi restaurant has fresh and delicious sushi. The sashimi is great as well. I also tried salmon teriyaki for my dinner, and the salmon was so soft and good. Can you imagine 4 pieces of salmon for just one person? The restaurant has an outdoor patio which will let you relaxed. The Japanese server was so kind. I definitely recommend this place."

"Maru Sushi is on Powell Street, along the Powell-Hyde cable car line on the south side of Nob Hill, just a few blocks up from Union Square. It is a modest and pleasant-looking restaurant, with friendly service and excellent sushi. We had a California roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll on the lunch special $16), and the Swamp $16.50), which despite its unappetizing name was very tasty. Many other items are available. A cup of Jasmine tea was a bit steep at $4 a pot of loose tea for two would have been more economical). Overall it was a good lunch experience."

"PSA: This place isn't it if you're expecting a hidden gem or a good deal. I don't think I've skipped out on taking pictures of sushi for a while. I wish I knew that from the start, but the reviews here skewed my expectations. Fish wasn't very fresh sashimi and nigiri was expensive and forgettable. Best things I liked was the hot tempura soba and the mushroom soup. While good, that does say a lot about a sushi restaurant. This place is an unassuming neighborhood Japanese restaurant that serves pretty decent cooked foods. It doesn't make sense to go here unless you're in the area already. There are tons of neighborhood sushi restaurants in SF, go to the one in your neighborhood, it will most likely be similar."

"I’ll give it a 3 because the service was decent. The host was nice but I wouldn’t say it’s over the top or anything. It’s a very lowkey spot super causal, nothing fancy but the 3 stars is for the food. I debated giving it only 2. It’s pretty pricey and I wasn’t thrilled at all. The cuts of fish were sorta cut up sloppy and thick and the didn’t seem super fresh. I tried some tar tar appetizer and didn’t like it either."

"Quality for the price of !! Best in Westchester, Excellent Sushi. Do not be fooled by the inconvenient establishment of Momiji, Chef Shinji created and serves excellent sushi that delights the taste buds. In Manhattan, for its quality of sushi, you pay almost 3 times the price. Its sushi cooked food is delicious, fresh, but very traditional and simplistic, it remains away from “fusion” or modernization of its sushi. Very recommended."

"Hidden jem. A must go for excellent sushi plus more. It's all about the quality of the food plus great service. Do not expect anything regarding the venue.... having said that, the ambience or lack of it adds to it's character. Lovely place. A staple."
