"This was our second visit to Saltrock. Both visits were to celebrate our anniversary. We loved it so much the first time that we decided to go back. We didn’t receive any congratulations (they gave us a greeting card the first time that the staff signed). We sat outside at 7:30pm and it was pretty dark. We’re in our 20s and 30s so if you’re any older you’ll need to use your flashlight. The food the second time was mediocre, at best. The elote was blasé and the guacamole looked like it was Wholly guacamole from the store. I’d like to shout out Erin, the busser. She was great! Will not be going back, unfortunately."

"We went 6pm on a Monday evening to celebrate a birthday (party of 3) and the place was packed. The service was very slow, wait time in between courses too long. Food was good. I had requested a birthday desert and it didn’t come until we were getting ready to leave. To make it more enjoyable, I would suggest staggering the tables so people can have a conversation and wait staff can provide good service. I will probably wait to return in the summer when I can sit outside and enjoy conversation without screaming at each other."

"This place was fantastic! Everything from the cocktails to the sides were 10/10. The mezcal cocktail pictured (Flor De Pina) was so well-balanced and flavorful without being overpowering. A perfect compliment to the Birria Tacos and Brussel Sprouts; these both were outstanding. Lastly, the service was top-notch. Sergio was super-helpful and fun; also, the chefs were on point. Overall 10/10. Highly recommend and will be back."

"Food was good and interesting choices. I wish they had more vegetarian options. I got vegetarian pot stickers and they were quite good. Drinks were interesting and good It was right after Christmas and it was pretty empty and kind of cold. I would have liked it to be a little warmer inside. The service was spotty. Nice enough, just for being kind of empty, not super attentive. Overall nice meal"

"Honestly a terrible experience here. Food and drinks were terribly sub par. Execution of cooking the meats was really bad my boyfriend's duck was chewy, and my steak was not cooked to the right temperature I ordered (med rare). The staff was friendly enough but very undertrained. It is clear that the owner is more concerned with his friends and Instagram posts than gaining and maintaining loyal guests aka long term sustainability. He was chatting with two girls, giving them free drinks, entertaining his friends and even gave my drink to them that I ordered since they wanted the same as soon as they sat down (after I ordered). No one checked on us to see how we were liking the food (we didn't), and it took nearly 15 minutes of us sitting there with our food in front of us to get someone to notice we wanted the check. The restaurant was pretty empty so busy ness isn't an excuse. It was our anniversary and we paid nearly $250 for drinks, apps, and entrees that were underwhelming to say the least. Not to mention it was freezing cold and the staff kept opening the door to move chairs and tables around. Honestly just a poor and disappointing experience all around. Sucks too because I was very excited to go here. Will not return."

Try the ortolana pizza and the Rosso dei Notri wine. And be sure to save room for dessert--they always change, but those I've tried have been delicious!! "I made reservations for my wife’s birthday. Since it was a Wednesday evening and a rainy day in LA, it was a bit slower than usual (which was perfect. Our server Jonathan was outstanding. From the moment he greeted us to the moment we paid our bill, his service, personality, recommendations made the experience much more enjoyable. We got seated at the perfect table indoors with a money short of Sunset Blvd. Now- let me start with the food. It is more on the higher price point for luxury cuisine. Portions are fair I recommend sharing. We ordered the meatball skewers, crab fried rice, octopus, and the boneless fish as the main entry. Everything was delicious! To drink, the wines are immaculate. I got a 2016 Pinot Noir Vintage. And to top off the night, our server gave us a complimentary Rosè which was so nice and refreshing a chocolate cake. Definitely would come again! Oh- and the lemon meringue is a MUST HAVE!"

"We love this place! We stumbled upon this place, right before shelter in place happened, and were blown away by the delicious cocktails and the food. We love that they make their own tortillas and they are so unique from any other Mexican restaurant in the city that we have been to. We kept ordering taco after taco because we kept wanting to try all their different combinations. The owner, you can tell really cares too, since he kept ensuring the place was clean and that his patrons were happy. We just recently got take-out for our parents to try, since they love authentic Mexican food, and they were thoroughly impressed as well with the quality. There was a bit of a mix-up with the pick-up order; but the owner went above and beyond to contact us to apologize for the mix-up. We love this gem of a place and will continue to keep ordering from them any time we are looking for a taco fix!"
