"Came here for the first time for lunch and was not expecting to leave as full and satisfied as I did. The Tuesday Soba Lunch Special came with a generous sized salad dressed with the most refreshing dressing, then came the giant bowl of hot soba with the perfect amount of green onions to satisfy every bite and then came out the shrimp tempura roll that I couldn't even finish. And it probably didn't help that I ordered their $1 beer special too . The service was amazing with very attentive staff and I will definitely be coming back to try the cold soba!"

"Food was great service was timely. Outside construction going on so our outdoor plans moved indoors. The waiter was efficient and timely w/food arrival but not very communicative or friendly. Frequent water and drinks refills were taken care of quickly. Good service, surroundings need work (ceiling had paint/patch work being done). Outside construction made entering and leaving cumbersome."

"Very friendly staff. Drinks were refilled frequently and we were checked on multiple times. We DID sit in the booth close to the sushi bar, so it WAS inevitable we were checked on but I can say I watched them check on everyone else equally as much. The sushi was fresh and tasted great! Im ecstatic about the wednesday special: Rolls that are typically upwards of $5 were only $3.95. My Husband and I appreciated that. His normal portions are large so being able to order a higher qty while still remaining cost effective was wonderful! Overall, this place was great and the food was tasty. We'll be coming here again!"

"When it says 'spicy ', they definitely mean you 'll regret your next bathroom visit!!! Really good ramen, albeit too spicy for my tastes but it was great nonetheless, I took home the leftovers and watered it down and I could finally appreciate just how good the noodles truly were! Although I wish I could say the same about the sushi? They were cold and yet oddly very very warm."

"This reside is long overdue. My client ordered sushi from here for me one day and I kid you not I eat here almost everyday sometimes. I order from Uber Eats it’s always really quick and I can appreciate that as a busy hair dresser. The food is always consistent. I love the sushi. It’s good quality and not overpriced and the ramen is some of the best ramen in the area. When you make notes they actually pay attention to make sure they prepare it the way you ask. 10/10."

"I have been going to Hama for 6years now. It’s changed ownership over that time – Toshi left…but they held true to the great sushi and fun atmosphere. No reservations, but if you become a regular like me, you are sat immediately. Ask for Maysao or Jason for the best service. Maysao is from the old school that ran the bar under Toshi. The Toro is better than any place I have been on the west side by far and prices are reasonable. I don’t think it’s on the menu, but Agadashi Tofu is my favorite when it’s cold outside and a great choice if you bring someone who is scared of raw fish. I lived in japan before and am kind of hard core (no California rolls for me), but if you have friends who are not big sushi people…but they like really like hot stuff…get them Jason’s Red Devil Roll with the “don’t sue me sauce.” This will provides loads of entertainment."

"First time dining here. The food was just ok, nothing special at all. The service was terrible and it took almost 2 hours to get in and out because of the slow service. Cleanliness of the restaurant was also not that great. Had to ask for a new menu because I got a pile of greasy rice in my lap when I opened mine"

"Many many wonderful meals between 2000ish and 2019. Our first meal at FuGaKyu since 2019. Food quality was very uneven. Unagi, tobiko and Hokkaido uni sushi were wonderful. Nigiri strangely very large so a good value. Ikura salmon eggs were cloudy changing the flavor. We eat Japanese a night or two a week rotating amoung 4 restaurants in the Fenway, Back Bay and South End. Hamachi Kama was so so. No match for our other four restaurants. Chicken teriyaki and beef teriyaki think freezer burn. Service was good. Decor ery atmospheric as it has always been"

"This restaurant has gone downhill since my previous dinning experience. The food was not appealing it was mediocre to say the least. We felt rush to eat and pay. To make matters worse while we’re eating udon noodles a restaurant staff decided to expectorate a glob of phlegm from the back of the throat. This was disgusting and repulsive. I can now understand why I got sick to the food. I will not be coming to this establishment needless to say the price on the menu does not reflect what was on the check. This was by far the worse dinning experience. Let me add that it was disappointing to see nats swarming around our table while trying to eat. I will be avoiding this restaurant like a plague!"

"The restaurant is located in a good location with a large parking lot. I ordered a Sushi Deluxe special that was really good. The other items in the menu also looked great. Personally, the customer service was not good and my server was not so helpful. Prices look reasonable."
