"My girlfriend and I arrived in West Hollywood at 5 PM to have dinner and experience the Halloween Carnival. Our first stop was Starbucks on the corner for her, and then I spotted Umai Sushi, which I had never tried before and never will again! We ordered edamame, two sushi rolls, and three drinks for a staggering total of $98.81. This price included an unexpected 18% gratuity that I’ve never seen added for just two people. We unintentionally tipped an additional $10 on top of that, and I’m relieved we didn’t leave more. Based on this experience alone, I thought I’d never return, but unfortunately, Umai Sushi had one last unpleasant surprise in store for me. When our sushi arrived, I took one look at it and thought, “DANGER!” The fish appeared dry and old, but my girlfriend insisted that, given the prices, it better taste good. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. To cut a long story short, about 20-30 minutes after eating, I started experiencing severe gastrointestinal issues. I located a porta-potty across from the DJ pavilion and spent the next 60+ minutes battling intense cramps, diarrhea, and, well, vomiting what felt like chunks of sushi and fish into that urinal which, ironically, was conveniently placed for such an unfortunate situation. There are plenty of dining options in the area, so I strongly recommend choosing somewhere else besides Umai Sushi—unless you think my review is a prank, in which case, enjoy at your own risk! P.S. A special thanks to the porta-potty engineers for their clever design, which allowed me to vomit without having to turn around and face the very same hole into which I, along with others, had just relieved myself. Much appreciated!"
