"Wusssuuuuuuppppppppp My main squeeze and I made a reservation here for Feb 12 (before valentines day) probably about 3 weeks in advance and were able to get a good dinner time of 7:30. Decent yo. We arrived 15 minutes early and had to wait a little bit to be seated. But thats showbiz baby. The whole aesthetic there was pretty sweet. I really liked the pillows around the bench seats and whole friggin vibe ya know? Took my hat off when I walked in gee wiz So we got dinner. But before dinner I was skiing out at white heat all day, crushing the warm day freshies, and we could put the ARRR in starving (tummy was growlin). I was not prepared for the proportions we were about to be served. I've attached the gnocchi we got. I'll note it was literally the best I've ever had. Pillowy, soft, creamy, godly. You're a fool not to try it. If I was close enough to the cook I would've asked the secret is. But I was let down by the proportion. I could've eaten two of these along with my tappas. The tappas we got: brussel sprouts (literally a MUST EAT. SOOOO GUUD), olives (also good but beware of the pits. I just ate them like a man), and the shrimp. Brussel sprouts and olives exceeded expectations, but I wouldn't recommend the shrimp because it comes with three shrimp for 15 and how am I expected to share three shrimp? Doesn't quite fit the tappas definition imo. But aside from that, they were friggin good too! If I could adjust the Google review, I'd give them three due to the prices per portion. Otherwise, everything else was great. The food we got was phenomenal, our service was par for the course, and the music playlist was relevant and good. Good for a date if you make a reservation. Get with it y'all. Seeya next time 188"

"My dining partner loved everything, I did not. I recommend you give it a try for yourself. It’s certainly the only Spanish or tapas restaurant within a 1 hour drive in any direction. It’s a nice place and I can tell they know how to cook. But the dishes just didn’t work for me. The portion sizes are a bit larger than most other small plate restaurants, enough for at least 2 or 3 people to all taste each. Tapas is always a bit more expensive than a burger place, but the total check won’t be as high as you think for a fine restaurant. My companion said the pizza was the best she’s had in her 20+ years in Fredericksburg. It’s also one of the better bang for your buck on the menu, if you’re hungry. I liked the 4 choices of $5 sherry, port and Madeira generous sizes. We had a lavender cocktail that was great and not overpriced. If you go when it’s nice and sunny out, the dining room has a beautiful view of the river. The patio does too, if the weather permits. The chef’s favorite sauce seems to be their smoky tomato sauce, which is tasty, but is repeated on a lot of dishes. Don’t worry, I couldn’t really taste the smoke. I didn’t like the chorizo sausage. I found it gamy in flavor and dry, lacking a sauce. The Brussels sprouts and the cauliflower were not terrible but I thought a little plain and dry. The smoked honey on the cauliflower was really interesting, and might have perked up the flavor, though I couldn’t have it due to my diet. The ribeye steak tasted good, though it looked cooked at medium heat rather than seared at high heat like the menu seemed to suggest. Our cut happens to be “marbled” with more gristle than fat."

"Macarena Tapas Naperville was more than a restaurant; it was a beacon of culinary brilliance in the heart of Naperville, now etched in the memories of those fortunate to have experienced its magic. Its closure marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable flavors and moments. The menu, a celebration of Spanish cuisine, offered a journey through taste and tradition. "Bruhhhh. Ok. I 've had two visits here with PLENTY of dishes to confidently say that this place just absolutely kills it. In all aspects. It 's a little boujee. In that approachable way though. I went in with a t shirt and shorts and felt just fine. It 's extremely nice and laid out. Decor is on point. Lots of reds, metal and hardwoods. My kind of style for sure. Even down to the choices on glassware. Phenomenal. Let 's just get to the food already! So soooo good. Presentation is on point, flavors are not in your face, but definitely there and contrasting just like they should! There 's definitely technique here. Even on the mango sauce that came with the chocolate churros. Sounds weird, but holy **** that was the best. The octopus. Just. Yes. Get that right freakin now. Perfect in every aspect, even down to the garnish. Service, again... great. Very clean cut staff that had their stuff together. The bartender was our server and he was great. Didn 't miss a beat and he was funny. My family and my lady were here with me and they also loved it all. We will be back together again and again if they keep this up. This place is great if you 're starving or just feel like a snack. Price points are extremely fair for what you get. Small plates are their thing so do that. Lots of small plates. Have fun with it! My personal go to here is now their margarita, patatas bravas, and the octopus entree. Happy dayyyyy happy day. Cheers"

"I think I have finally found the best place for paella in the Bay Area. Ever since my visit to Valencia, the birthplace of paella, where I was impressed by Casa Roberto, I have been trying to find somewhere in the Bay Area to satisfy my craving for paella from time to time. I had heard good things about Teleferic Barcelona, but in my opinion, while their tapas are great, their paella is just wrong (and runny). Finally, I checked out La Catalana, and from the moment I took the first bite of the paella (and the socarrat), I knew this was it. This is probably the closest you can get to authentic paella in the Bay Area compared to what you can get in Spain. I don't know what it is exactly, but there is something that separates good seafood paella from the others. Even in Valencia, we visited a couple of famous places for seafood paella and were disappointed. Then Casa Roberto made me realize what was missing the taste of the seafood. Maybe the brain juice of the shrimp, liquid from clams, or something else. But a good paella has this unique seafood taste I am craving for, and La Catalana's Arroz Pelado has it, as well as the socarrat. Other dishes are also great. Pulpo is done right, soft inside, crispy outside. Xai is a surprise. I've never had a lamb slider before, but this is good (and filling, which is the main reason we didn't manage to finish the paella :P). The sangria is a bit interesting. I think I tasted strawberry jam, probably homemade, but still unexpected. It's a bit heavier/sweeter than I like, but still a good drink. The desserts are great. No complaints about the churros, caramel pudding, and pistachio ice cream. Especially the caramel pudding. Especially since it's on the house. :D Not only is the food great, but the service is also excellent. Josh was our waiter, and he did all he could to make our special occasion even more special. His work convinced me that La Catalana deserves five stars, even though I have only visited once. Keep it up! My now favorite Spanish restaurant in the Bay."
