"Mama Oakland is a modern, welcoming nook serving seasonally minded, three-course Italian dinners a wide range of thoughtful wines. I would ideally give this restaurant a 4.5 out of 5 because of one thing (read review below), but that's not possible here, so I'm rounding it up to 5.The service at this restaurant was top-notch. You are basically getting a Michelin star restaurant experience for a very reasonable price. From getting seated to taking our order to cleaning our table and replacing the utensils before bringing out the new dish, their service was phenomena from the beginning till the end. Our server was very attentive and polite and friendly. The restaurant has indoor, outdoor, and bar seating areas. We were seated inside. The ambiance is pretty relaxed. Since the indoor space is not that big, the place felt very packed, especially with all the foot traffic.Mama Oakland offers a prix-fixe menu, which includes a starter (soup/salad), an entree, and a dessert. You also have the option for some add ons like bread, shrimp, or steak. Our prix fixe menu was $39/person. My girlfriend and I picked the same items for our appetizer and entree but different items for dessert. Our prix fixe menu includedSTARTER-1. Sweet Corn Soup2. Early Girl Tomato Caesar SaladADD ON ::House-Baked Herbed FocacciaPASTA-1. Parmesan Polenta Mama's Sugo2. Fetuccinie con Crema al PecorinoADD ON ::MAMA's Famous Pan-Fried Beef Pork Meatballs +10Optional Entrée for the Table (serves 2+)1. Roasted Head On Prawns2. Pan Seared New York SteakDESSERT-1. Meyer lemon Sponge Cake2. TiramisuFrom the starter menu, we picked the sweet corn soup. From pasta, we picked the parmesan polenta, and we tried both desserts. The corn soup was very creamy and delicious. There was a small portion of veggies and meat in there, which was a great touch and a good contrast to the smooth texture of the soup. The polenta was really good as well. It had a smooth texture with slight graininess. It was very rich and creamy in flavor. The braised beef was cooked well and was juicy.Desserts is where I have some critique. The tiramisu that we ordered was not a traditional tiramius, and that's okay. It was still delicious as a whole, but the mascarpone cream was very dense and not smooth. Lemon sponge cake was soft, light, and amazing. The cake had just the right balance of sweetness and citrusy taste. The compote, on the other hand, was tart. Those 2 flavors combined were a hit and miss for me.Overall, it's a great restaurant with amazing food, service, and experience. It's definitely worth a visit."

"I 've been to this restaurant three or four times, each visit when I was passing through the area. Some of the food here is pretty good, and it 's one of the few restaurants in the area that I know of where you can get anything vegetarian. I like that you can get tofu here and the food quality is generally good. It 's a nice location and a nice looking restaurant. HOWEVER, please note that many of the things labeled vegetarian are not truly vegetarian because they contain fish sauce. For example, on a recent visit (Sept 2011), we were informed that the tofu satay appetizer and the tom kah soup can 't be made without fish sauce, even through the menu says that both can be made vegetarian. We had already ordered these and only found out when we asked if the pad thai (which didn 't specify vegetarian on the menu) had fish sauce (it did). When we then said we didn 't want the soup and appetizer we ordered, the server acted inconvenienced and lectured us a bit... I think the encounter was more indicative of the individual than of the restaurant, so I won 't get into the details (we had great service on other visits), but the real moral of the story is: Always ask whether something has fish sauce here before you order it (if you are vegetarian and that sort of thing is important to you), even if it 's labeled vegetarian on the menu. Unfortunately, the truly vegetarian options here become much more limited in this process, but there are still several good choices."

"For Friday night we were looking for Thai place for dinner and decided to eat in Palm Thai as it was only 10 minutes from our place. Access to Palm Thai has many parking lots as it is located in the area where there are around 3-4 restaurants. You can park in the parking lot and drive directly to the Palm Thai restaurant. When we came to the restaurant, we saw that they have a small seating area. They were decorated with Thai idoles on the walls. The restaurant was decorated very well with the beauty of Thailand. Service Our server Ben was an amazing guy who was also the owner, and he treated us as well as answered all questions about food and respected all our requirements. Food By exploring the menu we first started with appetizers and soup, the vegetarian spring roll, crabs-rangoon and Tom kha soup. For dinner we ordered Drunken Noodles and Massama Curry. The server soon bought our disposable plates and soon for food. Soon we have our appetizers and soup. The spring roll and the crab ringoon were delicious. We loved both. It was a delicious start to our dinner. The soup was also delicious. It was amazing food freshly made with vegetables. Then we soon got our food, the noodles and Massaman curry was drunk. The noodles and curry were made hot and tasty. Dinner with the appetizers. The food and the appetizers were made hot and fresh with perfect vegetables. Price The prices were perfect and it was after the food we ordered. We didn't think it was expensive. It was really worth it. One of the best Thai restaurants in the area with hot and tasty Thai food."
