"Big fan of Modern Thai on Polk St! I've taken two good college friends here and we always have a blast. It's a good location walking-distance to a few concert venues and bars. They have a pretty good takeout business but I've only eaten inside. Would recommend the pad thai, beef noodle soup (and other soups--very good broth and a nice amount of meat! , fresh spring rolls (especially with shrimp! , and Thai Iced Tea! Service is prompt and fun."

"My husband and I had dinner for a special date night at Ka-Prow. Everything was delicious and the service was great. The best part of our experience was that I could enjoy a fabulous restaurant with a large gluten-free menu that was freshly prepared and of excellent quality. When we sat down, I was given a nice menu that only included safe options for me to eat. This was a first for me as I am gluten-free, and our server was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and even asked if there were any other ingredients I needed to avoid. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but for someone like me who can get very sick from cross contamination with gluten, this was truly life-changing. Tonight, I was able to enjoy a meal with my loved one without worrying about anything but overeating! Thank you to Ka-Prow for serving up healthy, amazing, gluten-free options. Chef O, thank you for creating such an incredible place. We will definitely be back!"

"The reason i gave a one-star rating was due to all the sneezing, hacking while laughing, and excessive coughing i heard coming from the kitchen. You can hear the difference between someone who covers a sneeze as opposed to someone sneezing into the open air. It made it impossible to enjoy the food. I regret not canceling my order altogether, but i was on a date and didn't want to seem rude. I brought the sneezing and coughing to the attention of the server and asked if they wear masks in the kitchen. He said no, but they covered their mouths. He walked into the kitchen and said something, and then it got very silent. As we were leaving, the cook came out to the dining area and started picking his nose while looking at us. I will definitely be bringing this to the attention of the health department."

"This is my favorite place to eat!! I moved to Clt and still make my visits to Albemarle to visit family and Thai spices. Although Lucky Tusk is owned by the same owner, its service cannot compare with Thai Spice. Usually there is no waiting time for Thai spices, you do not have to wait for your waitress to serve you from their phones! The service is always fast and the servers are always polite."

"This is a small restaurant, but it packs a PUNCH! The food is fresh and well cooked. Excellent portions per serving... it is a lot! My #1 recommendation is the fried calamari. This is not your typical calamari. This is made so light and the sauce... I can keep this on repeat! AMAZING! And of course... you can NEVER go wrong with pad thai. We highly recommend this place and we will be coming back for more. A"

"Very good, easy to order vegan and gluten free. The couple who owns it is very sweet. My boyfriend is a meat eater and enjoyed his red chicken curry. My yellow vegetable curry was even better. The presentation was elaborate. The desserts looked good and were all vegan but we were full. A bit expensive at $20 a plate -especially as I just ordered veggies, no tofu or other protein- but I think we would come again on a night where we really wanted to eat healthy but didn’t feel like cooking."

"I have been coming to Thee for years since moving to the neighborhood, and it is my go-to for these dishes and if you order them, you cannot go wrong.1. Beef Cube Tomato Sauce Rice2. Salt and Pepper Tofu3. Satay Sauce BeefI have ordered #1 and #2 as my classic dishes for over 4 years. It is the best combination ever, imho. I love Thee purely for these dishes that I will order when I'm in a pinch or craving some comfort Chinese food. These dishes are 100% magic because you can pair the beef cube rice with the tofu, or each of the dishes separately with white white rice. And this might seem like a given but yes, I eat the beef cube rice with a side of white rice too, since the dish is so flavorful. This combo serves as two main dishes for me, as opposed to the beef cube rice being a base for the tofu.I have tried other things and a recent one in rotation is the Satay Sauce Beef. I grew up being very familiar with the satay flavors, so the aromatics make my mouth water every time. Another favorite recent addition is the hot and sour soup (small) and depending on mood, I will also throw in an Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef, or a Buddhist Delight with soft tofu garlic sauce (as a sub for brown sauce).I love so many of the dishes here, and if you order over a certain amount (it might be around $30 but I'm not sure if this is up to date) you can choose a free add-on of crab rangoon or vegetable fried egg roll.I'd give ten stars to my favorite 3 staples, and a 5/5 to Thee overall. It's my favorite local Chinese take-out spot (I've never dined in) and I always call in my order with the restaurant directly, so all of the profits goes directly to the staff instead of a third-party delivery service. They even have parking because they're located in a strip mall right along North Ave. They're closed on Tuesdays, and otherwise open at 2pm but I would check their hours in advance just in case anything ever changes.TL;DRYou can't go wrong with your Chinese comfort food here. Order the Beef Cube Tomato Rice, Salt Pepper Tofu, and Satay Beef Over Rice for your take-out order."

"We had a gluten allergy and peanut allergy and they were able to safely accommodate. Much of the menu is gluten free which was a pleasant surprise for Thai (some places use pre-made sauces that contain gluten) . We grabbed dinner there one night and take out another. Both were flavorful and fresh. Prices are great too. Grab any curry and the duck! Dietary restrictions: A lot of gluten free options clearly labeled on the menu. Extensive too!"

"Very dry fish tacos with an overly sweet Thai sauce that didn’t match the fish properly in flavour. Disappointing food, and strange service as well by one of the servers. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3"

"This is a very small restaurant. My experience started off on the wrong foot. You should know they don't have restrooms for customers. No music. No water. Only bottled Costco water for $2.50 each. Table service happens after you order at the counter. The person who rang me up brought the food to the table and checked in on me regularly. The floors, windows, and tables were clean. The windows are lined with bright multicolor neon lights. I ordered spring rolls, panang curry, a side of rice and a water for $30 (20231019). The pandemic and inflation have me all messed up on value for eating out but it felt expensive to me. So how was the food? The spring rolls were good. Not standout great but certainly good, stuffed with fresh, crisp ingredients. The generous serving of peanut sauce in a plastic container on the side was better than others I've had with fresh crushed peanuts on top. The panang curry with chicken was pretty tasty. I got level 3 spice and it was just enough to kick it up a notch but not overpowering. I probably could have gone with a 4 but didn't want to risk it. The curry sauce was the perfect consistency, not too thick, not too runny. The chicken meat was great, no gristle and tender. The veggies were good, not soggy. So the food basically counteracts the atmosphere. In other words, get it to go."

"LOVE this place!!! Very small, yet beautifully cultured.. I had traditional Chicken Fried Rice with Egg rolls ? YUUU-MMMYYY!!! Also, if you go, you MUST try their BOBA! I love the Frozen Taro!!! Of course, the service is always fast and friendly! Although, they do have a drive around, I like to just go in and say Hi! always greeted with a smile! These guys have been here for years , I see them expanding in the future! They are SUPER GOOD!!!"

"It was okay! I better taste Thai food. The red Thai curry I ordered had no depth of taste and seemed to water down. The service was good and dishes were served in time. I made a reservation through the Google Wizard app, fortunately they didn't expect us, but we still accredited ourselves. Gratuity became for our party of 9. The restaurant felt obsolete and dark, I don't think back."

"Food at Thai Bistro is generally very good. The menu has a lot of options for those with a breadth of tastes. In restaurant service is generally good and waitstaff is attentive. Sometimes menu items not available and we can probably chalk that up to Covid- related supply chain disruptions. Take out is typically piping hot, so it will not cool off too much on the way home."
