"The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 starts for ambience is that I was surprised that it wasn't more crowded on a Saturday night. This was the Saturday that was one week after New Year's so maybe that's a slow restaurant night? Cocktails were delicious, server was lovely, menu is varied and interesting. We loved everything we got, especially the chickpeas, shrimp, and artichoke tapas. The decor is quirky and fun. It was mostly full when we arrived at 7 and by 9 it was a lot slower. When we left after 10 it was nearly empty. It's a bit off the beaten path as far as other restaurants in the South End, but well worth a visit! The more folks who go, the more the ambience will get a lift!"

"Went to try this place on a whim. The last Tapas I had the service was horrible the food 'so so ' now I was hoping to enjoy a nice meal. The location is easy to drive by so I recommend using maps. There is a lot of parking off the main street if you just go to the front doors you 'll see a lot of open spaces. The atmosphere is really nice, cozy, warm and inviting. The hostess greeted us with a smile and sat us at the bar. First ordered EMBUTIDOS Y QUESO with prosciutto, Valdeon Blue and Six Month Manchego cheese. Everything on the plate was fresh with great flavors, the cheese smooth, not sharp, no bite. The prosciutto flavor was mellow, no bad salty bite. Perfect. Then we ordered the Coal Roasted Beets! Wow! Love the mint and goat cheese together. Everyone bite was pleasing. The goat cheese didn 't overpower the bites and beets were perfectly soft. What a dish! Next the Crispy Calamari, OMG! Perfect breading, light, crispy and flavorful. Did not take away from the calamari one bit. The calamari was tender, perfect, not chewy. I loved the Jalapeno fried chips that came with it. They too were perfectly breaded and flavored Finally we had the wood fire grille skirt steak. YUMMY! Love the marinate! That it what you expect from Spanish Tapas, that sauce I could pour over anything! The skirt steak had amazing flavors, juicy, tender and cooked to a perfect medium. Overall the food was perfect, everything we ordered and every bite we had. The service was quick and timely. Why not 5 stars instead of 4? We sat at the bar and the bar tender who was two feet away we had to wave our hands to get his attention more that once. Not a bad thing but not good either. He was more occupied telling stories to another couple, probably regulars than checking on customers. The building is handicap accessible, open spaces to move around and easy access to rest rooms. There is also a nice covered patio for seating. Will I go back again? Absolutely. This is my new Tapas To-To!"

"My family and I have been dining at a prestigious winery restaurant in the Livermore area for many years. While we have always enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere, we have noticed a decline in the quality of the food and an increase in prices. We were delighted to discover Double Barrel Winery, where the food exceeded our expectations and the wine list was reasonably priced. We ordered the flat bread appetizer, lamb entree, and pumpkin creme brulee for dessert, all of which were expertly prepared and delicious. We also enjoyed a reasonably priced bottle of Decoy Merlot. The live performance by the James Nagel Band on the back patio added to our dining experience. The only downside was the seating along the back fence, as some guests were uncomfortably seated on wooden stools while we were lucky enough to secure padded bar seats. Overall, we had a fantastic experience at Double Barrel Winery."

"Dishonest tip billing method detracts from an outstanding dining experience. Food and service were excellent, the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. It deserves a 5-star rating, if it wasn 't for the way they present the check to customers. A Service Charge of 18% is included below the sales tax line subtotal and added to the total, which would be okay if it wasn 't for what follows below. At the bottom, the customer is presented with a list of suggested tips in percentages and amounts, followed by a line to enter the TIP and another line to enter the total. It 's all too easy for customers to enter a customary tip amount unless they have carefully examined each line item on the check and noticed the already included service charge. Entering a tip amount would in fact double the normal and customary tip to 36% to 44% instead of 18% to 22%. The line for Tip should clearly read ADDITIONAL TIP, so customers understand the amount is an addition to the tip already included in the total, especially when the check is suggesting tip amounts in percentages of 15, 18 and 20. Although deceptive, this billing method allows the restaurant to claim transparency because it 's listing the service charge under the sales tax, therefore the customer should have known that any amount added in the tip line is extra. But they know that most customers are going to overlook the embedded service charge line item and add the customary tip to the bottom. Foreign customers not familiar with the service charge term may not even realize that service charge is equivalent to a tip. I 've seen this billing method used by several restaurants in Miami since the financial hardships created by the pandemic, labor shortages and rising prices, but it takes advantage of customers and should be discontinued. The service charge should be renamed 18% Tip or Service Charge and printed in bold. The suggested tip percentages should be replaced by An 18% service charge is already included, but we encourage you to add an additional tip if you want to reward excellent service . The line at the bottom should read Additional Tip. The service was excellent and I left an additional tip for our server, but I almost overlooked the Service Charge item and was about to leave an additional 22% on top of the 18% on the check. Very tricky and detracts from an otherwise excellent dining experience. That 's the reason for the 3 stars instead of the 5 stars the restaurant deserves."

"However, there were some issues with the service. We were required to download a mobile app to order, which felt excessive. Thankfully, we managed to place our order without it, but now I have to uninstall an app that I didn’t want in the first place. Once the order was placed, the food started to arrive, but unfortunately, the waiter forgot about our drinks. At the end of our meal, we were questioned about why we tipped only 15% when the norm is 18-20%. I found this completely unacceptable. Tipping should be a reflection of service, and it's rude to ask customers why they choose not to tip higher."
