"My review is solely based on my lunch experience: What a great little restaurant. This gem is hidden in plain sight right off the parks highways. Nonna 's Osteria (as in pub or tavern) is a small rich Italian hub right here in Wasilla. The lunch and dinner menus are quaint but in this diners opinion, perfect. Lunch offers warm and cold traditional Italian sandwiches, salads, and soup of the day. Dinner offers an appropriate selection of wood fired pizzas, a few pasta dishes, salads and a chicken dish. A few Italian, of course, red wines and a variety of soft drinks and espresso. If you are expecting a four page hard-backed menu, say Olive Garden, you 're in for disappointment. If you 're looking for a small warm Italian Osteria that could be on any street in small town Italy, welcome home! Everything is homemade! The breads, pasta, soup, and wood fired pizzas. I had the lunch course Meatball Sub! The best meatball I 've had in the past eight years! Light sauce true to the Italian roots. Moist flavorful and aromatic meatballs. Fresh mozzarella. Soup of the day: Minestrone. Ok, not usually a fan of minestrone soup but this was amazing. Rich deep flavorful broth with homemade pasta and locally sourced veg. The carrots were alaska grown, sweet!. Hell, I even ate the celery bits and I despise celery. I don 't understand why there is not a line out the door. If you like homemade, authentic Italian you MUST try this place I swear I could taste the Italian grandmothers experience in every bite!"
