"We have frequented this restaurant many times since it opened and have referred people to it. It’s in our neighbourhood and we like to support local business. The food had always been good and service, though a little variable depending on the server, was always okay. Unfortunately, based on our experience last night, it could well have been our last visit.Overall, the food was, at best, okay for most of our table nothing special, but okay. However, one person returned the deep fried cauliflower because it was essentially inedible but the charge for that dish wasn’t discounted at all. We noticed that there were fewer fries with the burger than usual, and not in the little basket but just on the plate. The pasta special was bland. One person had a glass of wine $13 for a 5 ounce glass of wine that sells for about $18 a bottle at the liquor store. We didn’t mind the price so much as we minded that 5 ounces just isn’t enough. A 6 ounce glass will take you through a meal, whereas a 5 ounce glass just leaves one wanting a bit more and is annoying. Yet the only want to get more is to order another glass even though you don’t want another full glass.Service was not good at all. There were at least four servers but we had to wait several minutes for menus and water. Then we had to wait several minutes before they took our drink orders. Though the server had been at our table at least three times before the appetizers arrived, we had to ask for napkins and cutlery and then wait with food on the table for them to arrive. We had to ask for water to be replenished twice and then had to wait several minutes before the carafe was brought each time. There was obviously a group upstairs, but other than that, the place was not that busy. However, the four entrees were brought to our table in three trips leaving people waiting several minutes while others at the table had food. Don’t know if the problem was in the kitchen or with the server, but there’s just no reason to not serve all people at a table within a minute of each other. The place isn’t that large it’s not a long walk from the kitchen to the tables. The air conditioning was either turned down or not working well because we were all perspiring in the heat and it wasn’t that hot outside, but the restaurant was very warm. So, our visit last night was very disappointing. Of the four of us, only one hadn’t been there before. The three of us who had been found the food, the service and the physical environment all very unsatisfactory not at all what we’d been used to. LaPiazza, you can do better."

"After recently seeing Chef Petroni on DDD, we stopped in for Friday lunch on our way up to CT. Wasn't busy yet soon after opening, although the shopping center was pretty busy. From a COVID standpoint, seems like everyone was following guidelines. Most people in the shopping center were wearing masks properly, even outside of the stores in the parking lot. Everyone in Fortina we saw were as well. One-way directional flow signs inside. Tables were properly distanced. We grabbed a table outside, since it was a nice morning with great weather. Building threw shade on the outdoor tables. Menu is online via Toast. They provide a QR code to get to the menu, and you have to order and pre-pay through the app. It was early in the day, so there were a few menu items that were unavailable, like the half chicken and pork braciole. We'll have to come back and try the braciole someday, cuz it sounded delicious! We ordered the calamari to start, which comes with an interesting story. When the order first came, we dug in. It was delicious and perfectly cooked as it was super tender and lightly breaded. Halfway through our digging in, the server came over to apologize, that two executive chefs in the indoor dining space didn't like how our order smelled and wanted the kitchen to make us a fresh batch. We didn't spot anything wrong, but we appreciate how they're careful and take pride in their product!! A new order was delivered a few minutes later, and it was delicious too! They even took it off of our check, even though we thought it was great! We couldn't decide on a pizza, but our server recommended The LB so we went with that. So happy on the recommendation! It was delicious, the crust was thin and crispy, and the burrata and robiola cheese was pillowy. Will definitely come back for this pizza!"

"This is the first time visiting Ancora Italian Kitchen after several memorable visits to Vivo. Save for the introduction of pizza a welcome introduction the menu appears to have changed little since the Vivo days. We ordered four appetizers and the fried calamari was the best of the bunch and quite tasty well fried and very flavorful. The meatballs were dense and a bit dry, the arancini lacked flavor and the grilled ricotta seemed to be extremely overcooked (and also dry as a result). We ordered three pizzas and they were okay but not great. The ambience is good they eventually turned the lighting down casting a nice glow throughout the room. It would be great to turn the lights down right as it is getting dark (which is soon to be 4 5 pm). It was too bright when we first entered the dining room around 6:45. Service on the whole was okay but could use a boost. We had a pile of dirty plates and leftover pizza when dessert arrived and was plopped down in the middle of the chaos we actually had to ask for the dinner plates to be removed in order to fully enjoy our dessert, coffee and after dinner drinks. Finally, the bathrooms really need some attention. They were very disheveled bare walls with remnants of prior art visible, lots of paper on the floor (I recognize that patrons do this, but someone needs to keep an eye on the condition throughout the night) and a buildup of dirt that is unsavory in an eating establishment. On the whole, we were disappointed with this visit and it is difficult to imagine returning anytime in the near future. A little effort and some elbow grease would go a long way toward enhancing the end to end experience..."
