"As foodies traveling from Chicago, we are tough customers. Found this restaurant on Open Table and selected it because it was dubbed a neighborhood gem. We could not have been more pleased. Do not be put off by the location, tucked into a generic-appearing strip mall. This place truly IS a gem, and it 's no surprise it 's been around for nearly 30 years. Every dish we had was wonderful, beautifully plated, and thoughtfully prepared. The wood fired cauliflower appetizer delighted with the slightly spicy tahini sauce, brightened by fresh mint. The Kodiak scallops were some of the best I 've ever had- large and perfectly prepared, atop a sweet corn pumpkin polenta that left me wanting to super-clean my plate using my finger. Wow. We shared the dark chocolate terrine for dessert- plenty for two and equally dazzling. I 'll add that we do not eat gluten, and dined like royalty here with no problem and no adjustments needed on the dishes we easily selected. Our server was friendly and attentive and she clearly enjoyed how much we were loving our experience. The chef even came out to introduce himself when he learned of faraway travelers who had found his lovely establishment. SO glad we opted to get out of downtown Anchorage for the evening to experience this fabulous meal!"

"I 've dined here many times always very good. We had friends in from out of town and we partly chose Park Avenue bc it is such a beautiful restaurant. Unfortunately the only part we saw of the restaurant was while the maitre d walked us through it to our table in the event space room. Extremely disappointing. They put a lot of effort into the decor of that restaurant four times a year. It is one of the signature benefits of dining there they know that. Yet they seat people in an event space room that is completely separate from the restaurant with no view of the restaurant accept for two sliding panels that allow you to see dining room if you are sitting in front of those panels). Unacceptable. In fact we were the only ones seated in the room for the first 20 minutes of our meal very uncomfortable. Boring, drab room, banquet style tables with folding metal legs, draped with a white table cloth. If they are going to use that room for dining room overflow, they should inform the potential customer when the reservation is made. Totally unacceptable for the price point of this restaurant $100+ per head). Second restaurant blunder of the night is that they are serving bottles of red wine at room temperature. To be fair, many restaurants in NYC try to get away with this, not just Park Avenue. Anywhere else in the culinary world you would put out of business but for some reason some NYC restaurant get away with it because space is at such a premium . That being said, I don 't normally see it at this level of dining. The waitress was very nice and quickly chilled the Pinot Noir to the perfect temp of 56 degrees after I instructed her to do so. She even anticipated the second bottle and had it chilled when it was brought into service. Again, totally unacceptable for a restaurant at this price point."
