"I want to preface this by saying that I generally only write positive reviews unless I’ve had a very poor experience. I hadn’t been to Mallorca in at least a decade, so my family and I decided to go today. I have such fond memories of the food and the entire experience. But WOW, was I disappointed this evening! The food was a B+ at best. I enjoyed the garlic shrimp appetizer and the salad. However, the paellas were just ok. I needed to add a good bit of salt for the flavors to come together. They say they are known for their paella, and it was very underwhelming. The service was what really made me write this review. We were seated at a table by a gentleman who ended up being our server. When only one person ordered a glass of wine, despite 3/4 of us ordering a beverage other than water, the server negatively changed his attitude toward us. This wasn’t surprising, as this happens to us often. I originally ordered the vegetarian paella. However, after seeing that the price of the vegetarian paella was the same as the more elaborate “paella Valencia,” within minutes, my family member stopped our server to ask to add chicken and chorizo to my paella. There was a lot of confusion about specifically what we were asking for, and the server left the room in a huff, saying “Oh my god” in Spanish loudly. He came back to clarify what we wanted, but was pretty rude. Following this, we asked for more bread two times. Finally, the server brought it. Then we asked for more butter. He came back and threw the butter plate on the table, and I promise I am not exaggerating. The next time we spoke to our server, one of the people in my party couldn’t hear what he was saying, and, as such, said “what” a few times. As the server walked out of the room we were dining in, he was mocking this person, saying, “What?,” in a rude, sing-songy tone that was obviously meant to be mean. After that, a different gentleman who was helping our server asked if we needed boxes and we did. When he brought them to us, he very quickly shoved the to-go containers directly in front of one of my family member’s faces, which was completely unnecessary and felt hostile. After what we experienced with our server, we paid and asked a third person who brought back our check if we could speak to the manager. Well… turns out that our server was the manager. It makes sense why the service was so bad if this is how low the manager sets the bar for service when he serves tables. Based on the fact alone that the manager treats patrons like this, I would highly recommend not going to this restaurant, and I will not be returning in the future. It’s too bad because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants."

"The Original Hawaiian Royal w Fried Rice Portugeuse Sausage, Char Sui (Chinese BBQ Pork), Eggs, Fried Rice, Sprouts, Onions 5! Spam Masubi spam, rice, sauce, seawood wrap 5! Hawaiian style Macaroni Salad 5! I am a fan of Hawaiian food partly because it is a wonderfully, eclectic blend of influences from other cuisines and has evolved far enough to have its own distinct culinary identity. Rutt's Hawaiian Cafe, an LA Hawaiian cafe with a few locations around the SoCal area, fully embraces the food that makes Hawaii special. Their menu includes a large list of island favorites. I was drawn towards the Royale dish, which is something that isn't available at lots of other Hawaiian places. A Royale is an egg omelette dish mixed with rice and fillings. I went with their original which includes sausage and char sui and I went for the fried rice version. It was amazing! So much flavor with all the ingredients mixed together. Every bite was magic. It was also insanely filling. I used some of the bbq sauces on the table to add a bit more kick. I love Hawaiian style macaroni salad as well as spam masubi. Had I known how big the royale was, I'd probably have just ordered that but I was keen to try some other items. No regrets! The spam masubi is always a fun dish to have. It is a nice savory sweet combo and hit the spot. Their take on the macaroni salad was also excellent. The restaruant is bright and colorful. I like that a large copy of the menu greets you at the door. There are lots of seats inside and outside on a patio. The servers were friendly and helpful. My server is who convinced me to try the royale. There is a very small parking lot connected to the restaurant but it also looked like there was lots of easy street parking. If you love Hawaiian cuisine or if you are curious what makes a great Hawaiian dish, give Rutt's a try! They have been open for a long time and have a lot of great food in their friendly, colorful location."
