"Lets start by saying there was no wait and they actually sat us at the time reserved. However it all went downhill after that, starting with our waitress who wasn't very friendly or attentive. We waited eleven whole minutes before anyone greeted us at our table... Also it was National Margarita day and they had no specials and the waiter even said to us that she had no idea what day it was. We got the manager involved who seemed sincere and swapped our waitress for a waiter by the name of Josh who did his absolute best to try to turn around a bad experience and make it into a great one. Moving along my food came out with hair wrapped around my shrimp, yuck I was completely disgusted and to add insult to injury not once but twice my sister asked for her drink with light sour and no salt but surprisingly they did it wrong both times. This was our first time at this location and we truly do not plan to go back. We usually go to the one in Virginia and will be going back there for both the food and service. I am super surprised with the service that was given to us at this location."

"After we were all seated and looking at the menu, our server informed us that they were out of pretty much every kind of meat. Since it’s a BBQ place, that’s pretty much what we came for. We ended up leaving for a neighboring restaurant. It’s understandable that places might run out of food from time to time, but it would have been nice to know that before our reservation time, or at the very least when we checked in to be seated. While this was disappointing, we will be back, since their food is delicious."

"We were a group of 13, and my husband and I specifically brought our guests there to experience the chocolate piñatas at the end of the meal. However the restaurant made two big mistakes. I asked the waiter as soon as he came to the table to order one of each chocolate piñata, because I know they take extra time to make. And I asked that as soon as the dinner plates were cleared the piñatas should be served. However, we waited at least 15 minutes after we ate for the piñatas to be served. Also, when each was broken open, ALL of the strawberries were frozen. I had to get a manager to bring us some unfrozen ones, however, he didn't bring out too many."

"We came for the 50 cent wings and $2 beers. We had smoked wings with no sauce because they brought 4 different types of BBQ sauce to choose from, and we also got the Buffalo wings. The smoked wings were the winner. We like our wings cooked HARD these were done completely, but we like a hard skin, so we took them home to finish them off with a little broiler action. We drank PBR for our $2 beer (Bud was the other choice)...kind of fun to go back in time with a pint in hand. We sat on the patio and it was quiet. Since we live in River City, it is only a 10 minute walk. Many specials check it out. The sign says Pork Chop, but it is listed as Chop on Open Table, it seems to me that was the original name when the restaurant opened, it was more steak centered then, so it is hard to find on the Open Table list."

"I was so hopeful this would be my new go to place. In some ways I can make it work but not when it comes to the food. The positive notes first. The drinks were spot on (Devils Margarita was excellent) and the vibe inside works for almost anygathering. They have great color schemes and openness which gives a pleasant air to the place. People seemed to enjoy theoutdoor patio as well. Easy access to parking and family friendly. Now, the food was a different story for me. If you are goodwith appetizers then this is your place. However, I found the food lacking in flavors (green rice is super bland), crispytaquitos were soggy, and orders were missing items or adding items that were not ordered. Our waitress seemed to be new. Inormally try to give people a break but she did not come back to our table once to ask if we wanted another drink or if weneeded anything. We had to ask for napkins and parts of our order multiple times. As you can see the place was not packed. Idefinitely see myself returning for drinks but I'll stick with the bar only for now."
"I’d only recommend going for the chocolate piñata! Bad/extremely slow service. Had reservations for 6pm, they sat us early which was great. Was there for 2.5 hours for 2 kids meals, chicken quesadillas and fish tacos. We did pre-order the dessert so we weren’t waiting on that."

"I love their food. Cheese biscuits are our families favorite. I do wish the pork ribs were much more soft and not red pink inside still but they said that’s how they come out. If the ribs were “fall out the bone” soft I would buy more often. I ordered 3 baked potatoes and were very small. They mentioned they have smaller ones so I thought maybe they confused my order, but no unfortunately I had the regular baked potato. Too small with very little of ingredients inside. "This is hands down my absolute favorite BBQ place in the area! You have the best sauces, it's not a competition. They are smooth amd have great taste; they have an excellent selection of choices. The pages are okay. As far as meat is concerned, I like the pulled pig and pulled chicken, but the brisket is my favorite!! My husband always gets the ribs; they seem a little less consistent. He got the best ribs he ever had, and some he didn't even finish. We always get to go, so I never talked to the staff, but I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to do it right if I did. (I'm too lazy to drive back the 20 minutes. And I don't want my food to get cold!"

"Always great food, but they were out of chips and salsa when we first got there. Got the fajitas for two (2), but plate really looked like a serving for one. Filet chicken special chicken was delicious....filet was a little tough. Overall not their best showing but usually so good that we will be back."
"I would recommend Uncle Julio's but the waitress was horrible. She did not check to see if we needed our glass filled or if we needed anything else. She did refill the chips and sauce but just wasn't a pleasant person. I would have given her a 20% tip but gave 10% because of poor service. She did not explain any of the dishes we choose. For example, the red rice was dry but did not no wecoukd have chose the lime rice. I was looking forward to coming to the restaurant with my four friends, one who was from Florida. This was our first time. We were not happy. Also, we were disappointed that many on the entrees on the website were not offered. I heard wonderful reviews about the Uncle Julio's in Duluth. I will try this one and recommend."

"We had a reservation at 6:45 and we were seated around 7:15 and got our food after 8pm. This would have been fine except we had three kids, 8 and under, and that was just too late. The restaurant was busy but they could and should have brought the kids their food first. Second, the kids ordered off of the kids menu and at least two of the 3 meals came with pico de gallo within the taco and quesadilla . . .its not listed as an ingredient on the menu so why add it to a kids meal? we love Uncle Julios and will certainly be back but this time was not a huge success."

"I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant tonight! The service was excellent and the food was perfectly prepared. The beer selection was impressive and the Fish and Chips and baked cod were delicious. I would highly recommend trying out these dishes. The atmosphere was also great. Overall, a 5-star meal for dinner. Price per person was between $20-30."

"This definitely is a niche restaurant in Calgary and a relief from all the steak places, which offer Veggies fake meat substitutes full of fake fat, blood and gristle and only suitable for carnivores on a health kick, these days... The days of the textured bean burger are numbered and these gruesome replacements are going to be the only thing on their menus in future... . Anyway away from that rant... Minimalist and chic with excellent, attentive helpful staff who were not in your face all the time. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and were accommodated without fuss... I had the pear and gorgonzola Ravioli, which was delicate in flavour and rich and filling in content. personally I would have upped the gorgonzola content but I'm weird that way.... Mrs B had the squash pasta which gave her inspiration for future home cooking.. Dessert selection was superlative, though i stupidly went for the Tiramisu which came in a plastic cup with a lid makingit look store bought and wasn't as exciting as the real bakery stuff they had in the display fridge. I was too lazy to go and look so that's my own fault.... Wine was good value. I just had the house white and it was pleasant, dry and a nice quaff. Didn't taste like the cheapest hock they could find and was up my street for a casual drinking wine. Only concern was that we had a starter but were only part way through when the main course arrived.. at least though they didn't whip the starter away, which I have had done elsewhere! Prices are a wee bit on the high side, but again in this time of inflation they probably need it to survive. I would recommend it as a change from the boring old chains which unfortunately remain ubiquitous throughout Canada More power to their independent elbow!"

"we always eat in the restaurants of onkel julio. their signature “wire” are great and eating is always solid. this time, however, the rice with the enchiladas was cold and lumpy as if it was prepared in advance, cooled and not properly or thoroughly heated before serving. the cheese on the enchiladas was something solid and also cool. I think there was a food preparation, this time. but we're back."
