"Probably more like 3.5 stars for me, if we can ever convince Yelp to allow half-star ratings. I took a spot at the counter and was surprised at how long it took for one of the waitresses who kept passing me to ask what I'd like to drink. After all, the restaurant was far from busy. The waitress that finally chose to cover the counter also seemed to have trouble figuring out my order, though it was far from complicated: a chopped pork sandwich with barbecue slaw, and a hot dog all the way including barbecue slaw. I had to explain the hot dog three times! After that experience, things got better. The food showed up quickly, and I was impressed by the amount of meat in the barbecue sandwich. The meat was a little drier than I like but a few splashes of sauce helped. The hot dog was simple yet delicious. And a nice glass of half-sweet tea matched up well with the food. The service grade took another hit when I went to the counter to pay, for the clerk there was as cold and unfriendly as a block of ice. What happened to making patrons feel welcome and appreciated? Instead, I think I was dealing with a zombie. The food was good enough to go back, so I'll try it again, but Stamey's could stand to improve the customer experience at this particular location."
