"I've been a fan of China Club for a long time. It had the best food for my money in Mansfield and a nice quiet atmosphere that was great for date night. My wife and I went to the new location for the first time and I have to say I'm disappointed. The menu was much smaller and has come from strict Asian farewell to some Italian and American pub foods. The new location has more of a sports bar it feels as fine food. There were many loud conversations and TVs with sports. There were also very few private tables and instead there are long tables with seats on each side for a more common dining environment. Maybe. I'm just old-fashioned about such things, but I'd rather have my own table so that my wife and I could have a more intimate experience. The service was fast and attentive, so no complaints there. The food was still good, but some of my previous favorites were no longer on the menu. My wife and I always order potstickers when we come to CC, so we did it again. Unfortunately, they changed the recipe of traditional steamed potstickers to fried dumplings. They were fine, but not what I expected, yet as good as the previous version. I was relieved that my go-to-order, Mongolian beef, was still an option, but when it arrived, it was clear that the recipe had changed. The meat was high quality tenderoin and had a good grilled taste, but there was almost no sauce on it, although it was served with rice, so the dish made quite dry. If I had never been with CC, I would have been satisfied, but I can't help compare it with the old CC and find it missing. I hope the management is made some of what CC so special and not try to make it a glorified Applebee with some Asian options."
