"Deliciously funky food in a non competitive locationI came in here for a happy hour before watching a film at Alamo in the same plaza. I was always curious about eating at Hatch, and I truly do regret all the times I didn't go here and grab food before the movie.Squid Ink Karaage (9/10 This back fried chicken is just exquisite. While the portion may be a little small, every bite was marvelous. The chicken was perfectly pink and tender, and was brined to the exemplary amount where the chicken was juicy, but not over seasoned. The squid ink gave some funk to every bite, and yet it was still crispy and felt nostalgic as good old fashioned fired chicken. The chef also slid over a spicy orange sauce that complemented the chicken very wellWasabi Beef Short Ribs (9l10 These short ribs were so yummy. I was a little concerned with the name since I think wasabi is usually a very overpowering flavor profile, but when I saw the thin piece of meat being pink and still in the bone, I was pumped to take my first bite. The result was a very delicious texture that had all sorts of sauces and seasonings that were part of it, but nothing that overstayed its welcome. The short ribs were a welcome surprise that had punch as a beef happy hour item.Fancy Fries (8/10 The potatoes wedges were definitely good, having plenty of seasoning including some green slice (rosemary I think? . The potatoes came out really hot so I had to wait a few minutes to truly enjoy them, and after a few minutes I really liked them. It also includes a chipotle aioli sauce that cooled them down and provided some more yum to the experienceOverall, I was very satisfied with my experience at Hatch. It is a smaller place, but I definitely had great service and the food came out fast and was delicious."
