"The simple fact that the owner (we think) found a table in a packed restaurant on reservations for a daddy with his two little girls for what seemed like a daddy/daughter dance evening simply so the little girls wouldn’t be disappointed was enough to get us to come back again. We were prepared to move our dinner to the bar to make sure the little family got to have their evening but they accommodated them, truly probably giving that Dad a sigh of relief. It’s that type of service that changes your whole experience. The food was absolutely magical. We had the lamb shank and chicken breast. Both were cooked to perfection, the sides were phenomenal and we finished with the lemon tart and left overly full but insanely happy about it. We frequent downtown Kalamazoo frequently for date night and this was the first time trying Rustica and we have found our favorite. It’s easy to see why it was so busy. Between the exceptional food and out of this world service, Rustica has created a winning combination."

"We used to come here all the time but lately the Grant Avenue location is so busy and the line is so long we haven’t been in a while. However, that’s for dinner time. We decided to try it for breakfast the other morning and we got seated right away. We had a very nice waitress… I believe her name was Jackie. It seems like she has been there a while. She was really nice and took her order and make sure we were good and our drinks are filled, etc. the food was just as good as I had remembered it was. My husband got an omelette and I got eggs hashbrowns and scrapple. Delicious!"

"We sat outside by the water. The food was average. The cole slaw was chunky and flat no spice with way too much mayonnaise. Avoid it. The green beans needed some bacon or something to pick them up. The server insisted I changed my order from fried fish which fit the setting to what he claimed was a spectacular Grade A strip steak. Reluctantly I took the “special”. It wasn’t. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. It was a scraggly strip steak thin and tasteless. The restaurant is a casual, understated waterside watering hole which probably does a better job with fried fish and French fries. I believe a “special” should be a special and was sad to have missed my opportunity to try their fried fare. Sadly, a leopard cannot change its spots"

"I'm not gluten-free, but I quite like Petunia's for a cup of coffee and sweet something or other, plus they're open later than most similar businesses. Take your gluten-free and/or omnivorous friends! I haven't been a fan of their stuff that I've bought in a grocery store... I'm not convinced it travels well or holds up in plastic wrap...but I've enjoyed both savory and sweet stuff bought in the shop. So, if you've been disappointed by something bought elsewhere, go to the source and give them another try. They've just opened dine-in again, too, so patrons can better enjoy the cute bakeshop vibe over a generously sized slice of layer cake."

"Brought some family here during a touristy outing in Santa Monica and it was a perfect pit-stop!! The line was kind of long on Saturday brunch but it moved quickly and our food came out pretty fast. I really liked my brisket hash. We wished the Lox Tartine had some capers but otherwise really good, with fresh ingredients!! The coffee and fresh squeezed OJ a here was a highlight. The seating and cafe itself is also very cute and lively. Some of the prepared foods looked really good. Would come back!!"

"Best-kept secret in town, as it is tucked away in the corner of a hotel and not well-known to locals. The locals need to find it, though! Gourmet burgers, available with a wide array of options.
