"The location Palo Alto for Straits Cafe is much better than the location Santana Row, both in food quality and in the atmosphere. While Santana Row is a trendy hipster spot that is quite a nightclub that server dinner when you meet it on a weekend night, the Palo Alto location is peaceful and elegant. And the food is better. They serve Singaporean fusion food, but there are definitely flavors from other Asian cultures as well. The dishes are to be eaten in family style; but they are quite small to share such a good group size is probably 2-4 people. Everything is very good here, but the only dish that was really unforgettable for me was the Risotto. I can't find it in the online menu so they may not have it anymore... but it's good. But the one that prevents me from fleing about it is that I had it twice, and it was amazing the first time, and only ok the second time. When I go back to the street, I'll order it again and see what happens. The other unforgettable dishes (which I currently cannot find on the menu) are the tuna fish tars and a coconut powder dessert. The tuna tartars are good, but the best part of this plate are the taro chips. THOSE is delicious now! After eating this Taro chip, I went (not successful) on a crazy hunt for businessbought taro chips that were so good. I didn't think the coconut pudding was so good, but I really enjoyed it... It is the one that is packed in a banana leaf, not the one that comes with Sago (it was just ok). My overall impression of this restaurant is that it is a reliable restaurant for consistently good food and a pleasant culinary experience."
