We were still eating as the waitstaff asked to wrap up our food for take home and at the same time handed us a dessert menu. We had to ask them to please slow down and let us finish. "Excellent food. I wish we got our waitresses name, but she was exceptional. Only thing I did not care for is being told they had another reservation after us and that we needed to be done by 7:45. Doesn’t allow to linger over drinks and possible dessert. We left our table at 7:48. Overall food was great, 3 of us for the scallop pasta and the other the crab cakes. Two got an order of oysters, one the cooked oysters, and one got the lettuce wraps. All good, will definitely come back on our yearly trips to the OBX."

"I came to the restaurant with a recommendation from the motel where I stopped for an overnight stay, in fact an excellent recommendation, the restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, the waitress that served was pleasantly friendly and knew how to answer and explain the dishes of course the recommendations were appropriate. If it is an Italian restaurant then eat accordingly, we ate lasagna with meatballs and filled chicken parmesan for dessert ice cream and homemade cheesecake, was excellent and highly recommended"

Lasinda, the owner was so nice, came over and talked to us and made us feel like we had a meal at the kitchen table in her home. From the Gale, like our reservation to the Gal waiting for us. They had a first attitude of the customer. Now to Jimmy came the other half at the end and was just so pleasant to speak and has a great sense of humor. Recommend this restaurant. "I have been to Carmelo's many times and usually love my meal and can't wait to go back. Tonight was a different story. My boyfriend and I made a reservation at Carmelo's to celebrate our anniversary as it's usually one of our favorite places. Tonight it took a very long time for us to get our drinks, my boyfriend asked for lemon for his water that he had never received. We then got our appetizer after a little while of waiting, which was fine. After we saw tables around us who were seated after us receiving their bread, we then had asked for ours because we never received it. After maybe a little over an hour of being at the restaurant we got our food. I got the shrimp and scallop limoncello, which I have gotten many times there. It had diced tomatoes in it that were uncooked (along with the usual sun dried tomatoes) and this wasn't something that was changed on the menu, if it was I would have asked for it to be left out of the dish. The sauce also seemed to be extremely watery tonight. Eventually our waiter boxed up our food and asked if we wanted dessert, we got one and asked for it to be for to go and for the check. At this point we have been here for an hour and a half. He brings the check and we put the card immediately in as we are sick of sitting outside and waiting. The waiter proceeded to take the bill and talk to the table next to us for over 10 minutes with our bill in hand. No exaggeration. Just five minutes short of being at our table for 2 hours is when we finally were able to leave, as we had a 7pm reservation. Maybe this was an off night for Carmelo's, I really hope it's not the new normal here, and I may just be exceptionally frustrated as we had sat there waiting for a lot longer than we had ever experienced at Carmelo's before. We saw many tables of two that arrived after us come and go before we had even received our check."

"The food here is decent. I will say that much. I?ve been to better pizzerias growing up in New York City but I?ve definitely had much worse. It?s not amazing, it?s a bit underwhelming but not awful. I feel the prices are expensive for what is offered. But I think the main reason I am giving two stars is the fact that the owner charges 3.5% to use a credit card. I think that?s a terrible way to thank a customer for their business. You walk in there and spend $50 on a dinner for two and you have to pay them to take your money? I?ve never heard of such a backwards thing. When you mention this to the owner he laughs makes a sarcastic comment and acts like it?s completely normal. He says I don?t pay, you pay! So disrespectful. And cheap. Not a great way to show appreciation to your customers, at all. And the narcissistic attitude that goes along with it, pretty deplorable. I?ll be finding another pizza joint. It?s New Jersey? It won?t be that hard."

"FAB Service and Food. J. Macklin has been a favorite of my whole family since his opening. (We eat at least once a week. Last Friday night I met friends with their daughters there... we had a total of 16. The kicker: Only 11 were there at the beginning. We all ordered and received our (DELICIOUS food quickly. When a few more came together, our waiter took their orders, accelerated them and delivered their food very quickly. It was amazing to see the last five guests cniffing in and all get their food in such a timely way. My friends (all who have never been there will be back!"

I highly recommend trying the Bert’s omelette, and many regulars rave about the crushed ice they use here.
