"It was full for lunch. We sat and after waiting for 10 minutes, the staff never came to the table. Looks like they can't treat many people. The waitress went to the table behind us and they sat behind us. They had coffee, water and a soft drink on the table and we were not recognized yet. Managers should really circulate and make sure their customers take care. Needless to say, we went out and we? not even stopped asking what the problem was. It's a shame because many people rave over this diner."

"I needed a place to sit to take a conference call... and Hyland Diner was convenient... BEST CHANCE DISCOVERY OF A RESTAURANT E.V.E.R!!! I was stuck on headphones for my meeting, so my companion ordered... and we were feasted on dinner that could have fed four. A half Chicken with Greek salad, saffron rice and so many extras. And the service! Personal and caring. Worth the trip to Staten Island on its own. When next in town, expect me there. Reasonably priced to boot. A wonder."

"Typical old school diver. The service and food are good, many items are a la carte, not many inclusions (must order some pages separately) The pancakes are delicious and huge! (plate size) Overall, the place is good for a fast bite. There are also plenty of parking spaces. I'm just here for breakfast so I can't come to other articles, but I'm sure they're also satisfactory. You're always busy."

"sat to the diner and then asked for a turkey dinner. the truthahn was made from a frozen product. that was terrible. had rosin in it and too sweet. the gravure is from a dose. the sweet tasted like fish. the potatoes were watery. the service from the server was great. not her fault. but the cook must know how to cook properly. must learn how to cook fresh food."

"great local diner with great decor! you feel like you're here in Greece. the host and the staff are very friendly! they gave me suppe, because my food companion was on the way. the shares are large and the prices are appropriate. the clientel seems like masters who are a great sign. overall I would definitely recommend and will be back soon. Hopefully it helps!"

"We've been going here for years. Food was always good. But wow did the service go down hill. Waiter disappeared on us for a long time, then when the food came out, it was slightly incorrect....and cold. Then we didn't see him again. Usually waiter's come back to see how you're doing if we need ketchup, napkins....etc.. we were asking other waiters that passed by but they just gave dirty looks. I guess we didn't belong to them. Then we asked the bus boy for more coffee and he came back within seconds. LOL. I should've left him the tip. A burger and an egg sandwich $35. Not worth the crappy service. What a shame."

"This was my first visit and I was very pleased with the food and the service. Everyone as friendly and we were greeted as we approached the counter. It's a seat yourself environment so nothing crazy as you walk through the door, just head to the counter and order. The food came out hot and fresh. The portion sizes were more than enough to be full and grab a to-go box worth. The men's bathroom smelled and looked clean. Most restaurants miss the mark on either of those but this one did not. 10/10 would recommend!"

"This is my favorite diner in Hamden. The staff there is always great. There is never really a wait for a table. The drink of your choice will shortly follow you being seated. Ordered food shortly thereafter, and cooked to perfection. Waitresses are super cool and have great personalities. You can sit back and watch them interact with customers on a personal level. Located off Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) off exit 61. Go check them out and share the experience that so many enjoy. You won't be disappointed."

"Absolute GARBAGE, Service horrible, a dump. Ordered soup, came out without a saucer , overruns on cups, cold and horrible, sent back . Meatloaf you would not feed a dog, Cold mash potatoes and mixed vegs. NO RATING -ZERO"

"The service and the waitress was excellent. But the steak I had was not good. The french fries were good. My family didn't like the food that much neither. Is a good diner to eat hamburgers, fries, and breakfast. No steak. To be fair the onion rings were delicious and the garlic bread."

"Sitting in the ER with my 82 year old father. He has horrible food poisoning and is violently ill. It is from the food he ate here this evening. He brought home half because he couldn’t eat it all and upon looking at it, I saw that the meat is completely raw inside! How dare you? With the amount of money it is to eat out and the way businesses are struggling to make it, you would think that there would be more attention paid to what is being served! Will never go back! BEWARE!!!"

"this is the only diner in this area where eating is good and the restaurant is clean (just reason i gave 2 stars). the negative is that everyone who works there has the most beautiful attitude! owners, the woman who answers the phone even the supplier. the ladies at the theke do not even look up because they are only hastening and looking to grab their cash / card. they all have a face as if they were worried about being there, they only seem happy when they talk to others. they really need a reality check and remember that customers do the business."

"This place is usually good, and I eat here often, however this past visit I was sadly disappointed with my regular order. The bagels were over cooked (I saw the guy behind the counter scraping the burnt marks) and the chicken salad was basically Mayo and salt, the cheese was not melted and tasted like wax. I will not be returning."
