"After reading a lot of the negative reviews of this place, I’ve been avoiding it like the plague. So when the time came that I actually found myself at the Double T diner for breakfast, I have to admit I was downright scared. But I was also very hungry. I was skipping my go-to choice, First Watch, because there was a crowd waiting there, and I hate waiting in line, especially for breakfast. First Watch Laurel has become, in my opinion, a victim of its own success. In the words of the late Yogi Berra, nobody goes there anymore — It’s too crowded. So that’s how I found myself at a table at the double T diner: hungry, and nervous.Have you ever walked into a place where you can sense that the staff has read all the negative reviews they get? There’s a downtrodden, sort of “I’m sorry for serving you this ****” aura that is absolutely palpable, permeating the atmosphere in the Double T. On a warm summer morning when people were out and Laurel traffic was thick, half of the dining area was completely closed off, and there was an uncomfortable silence hanging in the air. The food was edible, but that’s about it. The avocado slices on my southwest scramble were fresh and green, and I appreciated that nice touch — they weren’t brown and nasty. But everything was bland, barely lukewarm and the potatoes were dry. It’s a diner for chrissake —serve me my potatoes piping hot with some butter or grease or something, anything on them. The salsa had that straight-out-of-the-can look and taste to it. Double T diner pretty much lived down to its reputation. I simply can’t believe the producers of Gordon Ramsay‘s kitchen nightmares or one of those other reality shows hasn’t found this place yet, so their star chef can start throwing pots and pans and cursing out the pathetic, lackluster staff, while he turns it into a cash register. The place just seems so perfect for that.I won’t be going back to Double T, no matter how hungry I am. I guess I’ll just have to go to First Watch and stand in line with a crowd, waiting for something delicious."

"My wife and I decided to stay in Inner Harbor Baltimore for a couple of nights before a cruise. Having had a substantial seafood lunch earlier in the day, we wanted something smaller we could take back to our hotel and relax for the evening. Crazy John’s was close to our hotel. Yes, this establishment is in the middle of a block of strip clubs and sex shops but we arrived before 6pm when there was a lot of sunlight left. We were never approached on the street for a handout. Entering this shop was similar to sandwich shops I have been to in New York City years ago. The menu is extensive. Colby walked us through the menu and took our order. She pointed out they’re special that before 6pm you receive a comp bag of chips and a canned soda with the purchase of any sub sandwich. Per Colby, this sandwich shop has been open for 50 years. Prices were very reasonable. This place specializes in cheesesteak and they have more varieties of cheesesteaks I have ever imagined. We opted to order their shrimp cheesesteak (tiny shrimp added to a classic cheesesteak) and an Italian sub to share. Colby packed them up for us and we headed back to the hotel. The sandwiches were both very good but the shrimp cheesesteak was our favorite. Both sandwiches came on very fresh hoagie type rolls and were loaded with plenty of meat. If in the area again, I would not hesitate to make a return trip to Crazy John’s."
