"I've been on the hunt to find my go-to ramen in the area ever since I moved here, and after seeing how highly rated Fujin Ramen was, I knew I had to come by sooner or later. It should've been later, because this was just not it.The inside was a little dark, and the outside not so welcoming (it didn't help that they still had the padlock on the door when we entered but we didn't let it falter us. Our server was nice, but it was a Thursday afternoon (around 1 PM and we were surprised to say the least that the restaurant was a ghost town. Literally no customers inside besides us, which definitely threw us off and was probably a sign for us to turn around. But we didn't let it bother us too much, at least the service should be good, right? Not really, they were always huddled in the back talking to each other, which I would never mind but it was so hard to call for their attention to take our order for some reason. I ordered the Raijin Ramen, medium spice, with the Carolina Reaper powder on the side. The toppings were lackluster, green onions, sesame seeds (does that even count? , bits of ground beef that sank to the bottom of the broth, and 3 pieces of some of the mostly thinly sliced chashu I've had in awhile. The chashu was fatty yet with little to no flavor (seasonings who? , and was about 80% straight pork fat and 20% slivers of actual meat. It would cost another $2 to add bamboo shoots and each individual added topping was priced $1 or more. There was more to be desired, and this dish was in dire need for more toppings that I shouldn't need to pay extra for.You might as well buy a pack of instant Marutai ramen for $4.49, because that's basically what this broth tasted like. It was thin, soupy, and underwhelming for what it's worth. Whatever $14 I spent on this ramen definitely did not go into whatever they used to make the broth. I always, and I mean ALWAYS, finish my ramen and leave a clean bowl before I leave. This was the first time in a couple years since I didn't finish the soup, and the soup is usually the highlight of ramen for me.The noodles were fine, at this point the bar was in hell and that was all I willingly (and begrudgingly finish. There is much better ramen out there around this price range, but if you're craving for a solid ramen fix, Fujin Ramen is probably not where you're going to get it from. We left without looking back, and probably won't be back here again."
