"This restaurant is a hidden gem. We enjoyed sitting at the tables with lowered foot rests, which added a fun touch to our experience. We ordered the gambler roll, a spicy roll that had one piece that was incredibly hot. It was a thrilling experience and I would definitely order it again. The hot tea was delicious and only $3 per person. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was cozy for my date and me. I highly recommend this place!"

"This sushi is literally the best sushi I have ever had. The salad and miso soup are absolutely amazing as well, but most of the sushi rolls come with special sauce which is this sweet syrup like sauce, and it makes every roll 10x better. The rice and fish are also top quality as well. I honestly couldn't imagine myself wanting to go to any sushi place other than this one anymore"

"Food here is surprisingly good! ? ?I ordered a beef teriyaki lunch plate. Meanwhile, my husband ordered Deluxe Chirashi.Wait was not long. Our hot tea and water were served first, and they are in paper/plastic cups. Thought to myself, to not let this presume anything on how the food will be like. Then, our main course arrived and mine is in a paper plate still but my husband's is in usual chirashi plate.My food was just stacked like I was getting food from a children's party in a paper plate. Where you cram all food into a small plate. But I didn't let my critique be based on that, so dig in I did. And to my surprise, the beef teriyaki is tender and flavorful. It is seasoned well, and you want to eat more of that beef. Then I eat some rice in between. Oh so great!The lunch plate includes choice of handroll and I had the Spicy Tuna roll. It is not as pleasing looking, but it is actually really good. Spiciness is not too much, so I taste the tuna really well. It is also fresh. On top of that it also has salad, soup and tempura mix that ca.e with the lunch plate. So overall the food is great. I gave it 5 stars.Food price is not too much. For 3 orders: my lunch plate, chirashi Deluxe and seaweed salad, all in all it is $51 including tax.Service is fast, efficient, and professional.I gave this 4 stars overall experience. Would have been 5 if not of presentatiob. Definitely a notable room for growth. Will try them again in the future! Want to eat that beed teriyaki again!"

"Do yourself a favor and don’t take the risk. The biggest problem with this restaurant is that you can never count on the food being consistent in flavor or how it’s made. Last night my we decided to order form here and we were left very disappointed. My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki and the chicken arrived cold and rubbery he believes it was still raw ? . All of the rices were soggy and flavorless. We threw away the food we had just paid 54$ and ate cereal. That was my last chance for Palace of Japan. Never again."

"This place is truly a neighborhood gem. The food is great and the people friendly. The decor is fairly simple, but that is part of what lends itself to the casual, friendly atmosphere. We love the fact that they actually put REAL crab in their California rolls and not the imitation crab. The gyoza are homemade. This is one of my favorite places to go for casual, reasonably priced sushi and Japanese cuisine. Highly recommend this place for a simple, but good meal."

"First of all not very attentive service. We have to keep on trying to get someone for some service or getting our bill. We've ordered the beef sukiyaki and it was really salty. The beef ribs has only a few ribs on it and there is no garnish at all. I would just go there for lunch as they have quite good bento lunches. I wouldn't go there for dinner again."

"I had come to Samurai a few times before the pandemic and it was a great experience. I wanted to try again since I had time and wanted to have great food and experience. Man, I was wrong! When I came to the restaurant, it was about 6:00 and it wasn't busy. I give him two stars because the food was good. When we entered, it seemed like there was a waitress who is inexperienced or new. She sat me and my wife downstairs and then we asked after her drink menu she said they had Saki or beer. I asked her if she was still making cocktails and she informed me that they didn't do that anymore. This waitress was rude when she said it. We told her we were stuck with water and she left. It took 15 minutes to come back and take our order, we ordered the food and at this point the restaurant began to fill. We ordered 4 rolls and sashimi and it took about 35 minutes until the food finally comes. The waitress did not know which roles where and what were missing 2 roles. We started eating our food and about 20 minutes later we got our other 2 reels I understand it was busy. The waitress wasn't aware how we didn't get soy sauce when we asked and forgot them. I had to ask the bus for some and she didn't see us. The other waitress came and checked us instead. We had asked her for the bill so we could go. Our waitress had us wait for about 15 minutes and another 15 minutes until she was picked up after 15 minutes. I signed it with additional tip because we know that tips are important. The food and the other waitress was helpful. The waitress who served us must get a proper training and know how to treat customers, at least be kind. The food was okay, like I didn't say anything special, like it was. This place used to a city favorite now it is a disappointment. I'm gonna go somewhere else for sushi from now on."

"Sashimi was good but the rolls and hand rolls were a disappointment especially for the prices they charged. Also ordered the miso cod on the appetizer menu which was probably one of worse I've ever had. The fish was dry and a bit stale. The sashimi was very good which is how they earned their 4 stars otherwise would have given them a 3 or even 2. The service was very good so no complaints."

"excellent service and eat, the 2 most important things I care in restaurants. the pork was wonderfully prepared with a crispy bottom and juicy in the inner. the seafood hot pot came with 2 medium-sized salmon stones, 2 average size garnel, 2 scallops, 6-8 mush and a tonne vegetables. while not eating much, it was a lot for 2 people and the quality was excellent. the waiter will make you sway when you're ready for what I barely ate because I was so full. I'll come back to try the other hot cup dishes."

"This restaurant is Chinese and the food is delicious. Amazing! The only strange thing was that when my friend and I ordered two plates to share, the total came to $30. However, the waiter said we were each being charged $20, making it a total of $40. Maybe he included a tip or tax? Not sure. Despite this, the quality of the food is excellent. I will definitely return."

"I warned my family that the Japanese food we get in California is generally pretty good and better than we can get elsewhere. The food here was on par with what we’re used or better.The tempura seemed slightly below average, but the black cod was excellent and plentiful with a generous portion of asparagus, the sashimi platter was quite good (hamachi was the winner there), and the lava cake with ice cream for dessert was a nice surprise.I was a little surprised to be offered white or brown rice, but the brown rice ended up being what I’ve come to know as Korean multigrain or purple rice. I also love me some hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), but apparently the last one went to the party before we arrived on a Friday night at 7p. It was recommended that we ask to reserve one when making our reservation. Now we know. :)Fantastic service and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"A bit pricey, but delicious. Like all the other reviews said, the porridge at the end really stood out to me. For the complimentary porridge, they take your leftover soup and add rice eggs other ingredients while heating it up I kept them as leftovers : Ordered the miso shabu-shabu with A5 beef ribeye upgrade ~50 and pictured . I intended the order the A5 wagyu upgrade ~30 , but I told the waitress the wrong thing when they were explaining it to me oops! . The ribeye upgrade was very thin and buttery, and tasted best when eaten with a spoon of the soup. While I'm glad I tried the upgraded meat, I don't think the price is worth it. Also ordered the chicken karaage and takoyaki. Karaage came in many bite-sized pieces. Takoyaki was alright. We ended up getting in within an hour of closing and they still served us. Super appreciative of the staff! Thank you for serving us : I would come again if I was in the area to order their non-upgraded meat/try other broths just so I could pack some porridge to-go!"
