"Had a 4:00 pm reservation and was seated on time. There were barely any people dining inside, a couple of tables in the front area. An older gentleman came over and asked about drinks, which was water only. 10 minutes went by, still no water or anyone that came to the table. Another waiter (who I recognized from past experiences that were not the best of service), whispers a curse word “f as ” about the original server; I guess he had no choice but to take over to serve my table of 2, directed by the gentleman. I asked if everything was okay, and he proceeded to tell me yes, when clearly no. I had to ask what the specials were, as he rushed to take our order. He came back to ask if we got a rice dish when we did not. Everything came at once, except for toku fries. I asked for ketchup in advance because it is usually forgotten about, but then fries never showed up until the 3rd time asking another waiter. Toku has great dishes, however their service and quality of dining experience needs tremendous improvement and priority."

"The night that we went for dinner, we did not think to get reservations. but we went early enough to get seated without any hesitation. The food was really, really good. I had the Chowder which was very filling, and we shared the order of Smoked Salmon Crostini. My husband had the Redfish. My meal was selected from the Happy Hour specials. The restaurant was an exceptionally easy walk from our hotel...it was just warming up a little from a cold, windy, and rainy snap of December's weather."

Main negative is very loud ac unit. Overall, ok outdoor dining not quite zen. Shiitake salad very good. Shared sashimi omakase, a California roll a crazy roll. All very good but not over the top like some say. Friend had scallops for entrée enjoyed. Average wait staff-didn't know anything about contents of omakase. Would redo /or recommend but with more modest expectations."

"I called in an order. They said 20 minutes. I arrived and asked for the food. They said 20 minutes. I waited 30 minutes and then checked in again. They said 20 more minutes. I waited 20 minutes and checked in again. They said soon. Meanwhile, delivery drivers were picking up order after order. I waited 10 more minutes and then left. Go to “The One Sushi.” It’s right next door, and they’ve never wasted my time like this."

"This place is a hidden gem in WV. The staff and owner by far is one of the best combos around! But the food... oh the delicious food!! Served fast and hot! It is by far, absolutely AHHHHMAZING! Our cute as Christmas waitress hustled all night-never forgot a thing. It was st Patrick’s day weekend and even though they were busy- we didn’t wait and weren’t felt to eat fast and leave. Super acclimating to our group-thank you!!! You won’t get any meal like this anywhere else! I dare you to try!"

"Doesn't look like much when you walk by, but boy was the food outstanding. We started with both steamed and fried pork dumplings. Both were delicious. The steamed dumplings were very light and flavorful. The fried were of course perfectly crispy and flavorful as well. Tani tower was awesome.. tuna, salmon, avocado and mango with Yuzu sauce. Scallion pancakes were lightly fried and crunchy. Crispy orange delight was good. Shrimp was much better than the chicken. Spring Jamie Roll was good. The special sauce pulled it all together. The dinosaur roll was excellent. Shrimp, tuna and avocado in a soft shell crab shell. Would definitely go back!! It's a BYOB also. Service was great"

"We are unbelievably impressed with our recent experience we had with East Bay. Due to COVID, we had to cancel our big wedding reception but chose to have a formal dinner at East Bay with a small number of family and friends. This was one of the best choices we made! From the very beginning Kelly, the event planner, was responsive and helpful with making everything come together. She answered all of our questions and was very organized. The night of our event was seamless and everyone had the best time. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and provided excellent service. We absolutely loved our waitress, Cheryl K! The food was amazing, and they did their very best to ensure our event felt special even with all of the COVID restrictions in place. We would highly recommend East Bay for any special event."

"This restaurant is a must try in Newark. Our server was friendly and attentive. Food arrived quickly and was served at just the right temperature. We ordered sushi rolls as well as entrees and appetizers from the kitchen. The fish in the sushi rolls was fresh and flavorful; each roll had unique combinations of flavor and texture. Our entrees (drunken noodles and pad thai) were expertly prepared. The texture of the noodles and the seasonings of the sauces were spot on. We also highly recommend the Roti Canai, Tofu Satay, and Lettuce Wraps."

"I liked a lot here and went here. but in the last one year or so, I can feel that they are gradually changing. I know because of inflation, all restaurants need to adjust their menu price. but suzukis price went really much high, and the fish pieces were also thinner. Sushi rice, which I ordered as a side order, is not a sushi rice at all, only regular rice. a special roll for $18 or $20, there are much better options out there."
