"We visit a dim sum place in the south regularly that all our Asian friends (specifically, Taiwanese- and Chinese-born) recommended to us ten years ago. Therefore, we had certain expectations as to how things were done. Observations are as follows: 1. The service for refilling water and other beverages is not 'automatic, ' in that one must request for these things to occur. This might be a cultural thing in Cantonese/Asian dining, as I had the same experience when in southeast Asia before. This is different than when we go to our normal 'hang. ' 2. The food is rock-star, but the language deficiency made it difficult to understand their 'Cantonized ' pronunciation of one- or two-word titles of dishes. This might have been charming. My verdict is still out. 3. The decorated mung bean dessert dumplings were a surprise, but be prepared, non-Cantonese folk dining with children, for your children to not be enthused about them. They are good, but it took me a few tries to grow a fondness for this style of dessert. 4. The place is loud and overwhelmingly packed with people. Large parties will have a hard time getting seated, so get there early. Smaller parties are seated quicker. HOWEVER, SMALLER PARTIES, you might be seated with another smaller party at a table, and it 's likely that you will not be able to communicate with the other party if you don 't speak Mandarin or Cantonese. Overall, a great place. The food is delicious, and it 's a great value. Our three had seven or eight servings of dumplings, and we got out under $40 with tip. Not bad in NYC."
