"Here's a place that's trying, and almost getting to excellent. Our four-top visited Hook Vine on a recent Thursday night when in the resort area. It started out well with quickly being seated and ordering a round of drinks. The place was pretty busy, and though friendly, our server seemed to have her hands full. Drinks were fine, but we soon found ourselves in some gaps between visits from our server. We ordered, got a few apps, and then a long wait, while we watched later tables receive food, and finally asked our server if we'd have our entrees soon. She returned with them pretty quickly after that. My jambalaya was extremely spicy, and I've never said that before. I could eat it, with some difficulty, but I imagine most could not. The others seemed to enjoy their crab cake and other sandwiches. The space got very, very noisy before we were done, with a staffer shouting a conversation across the room to some patrons, and the room is all hard surfaces and very loud at times. We might return when in the area, but there are a lot of places to choose from."
