"As a New York transplant and not knowing much about Old Town when I chose it as where I'd moved to, I had little to no expectations. I quickly found out a few things: HUGE sports town (for those who know me know I'm not a big sports fan), great diversity in the social spaces and curio shops, people are friendly; streets are clean, proximity to everything. That said, when the swell of folks boil over to face painter drunken squeals, I tend to back off. Let me add that the understandable oddity is watching folks get dressed to the nines to go to the pub. Things that make you go.... In all honesty, I found that to be a bit pretentious. Enter the Old Town Pub. Well as many reviewers have said, it's this chill divy bar that has anything but pretense and very approachable down to earth feel and quickly became my go to place and have made some great friends in the process. Now you'd expect your standard fare of pub grub and unfairly (like I did at first) expect food just above McDonalds. OUCH yes I said that. But to my delight (and I don't use that word loosely), the food was awesome. Yes, awesome. And I mean beyond pub food awesome. There are two high end Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. I would stack OTP's calamari against theirs any day of the week. The blackened penne pasta is OFF THE HOOK! Even better than the rivals similar dish but a wider margin than the calamari. Pizza (moment of silence, a lone tear rolls down my face) OUTSTANDING. Period! Thanks OTP for embracing me!"
