"We wanted to celebrate the New Year at Niagara Falls and enjoy the outdoor concerts and fireworks. It was freezing and snowing, so we decided to find a popular restaurant nearby before braving the cold. We chose to dine at Buchanan, the restaurant in our hotel (Holiday Inn's Double Tree in Niagara) on New Year's Eve. The decor had a Japanese flair, more suitable for a Hibachi dining experience than a typical steakhouse. They offered a set dinner for two for New Year's, which was reasonably priced and included appetizers, wine, entrees, and dessert (coffee or tea were extra). The only downside was that the steak was a bit bland. We switched the house red wine for a Shiraz from Wayne Gretzky's winery, a pleasant surprise. The location was convenient, the service was good, but the food from the set dinner was forgettable. Next time, we might choose from the regular menu. Buchanan is great for romantic dinners, family outings, and groups. They also offer a buffet-style breakfast, but it is a bit pricey. There are more affordable breakfast options within a 10-minute walk."
