"Pretty good American-style Japanese. There are some nice less common, more authentic dishes, but it's actually all quite tasty and made with good quality! I'm a little bit of a food snob so when I'm looking for Sushi, I want something that's not a mountain of toppings, but rather something more authentic, but just knowing that going in, it's not Uchi, but it's still good nonetheless."

"They forgot the soup which they gave me future credit as I didn't want to drive all the way back. It happens I'm not bothered by that. There was a dead gnat fly on our white container on the outside but thankfully not in the food. It happens, so my review is not even considering that as it's always about the food. Tempera tasted quite different in texture than normal tempera I'm used to, it almost tasted like corn meal and dense, not crisp and light like a typical tempera. Know that when you pay certain amounts for your meal they do give you a free roll or free something depending on how much you spend. So I got a free roll included. Spent a total around 80 bucks including some tip. Compared to Whole Foods its similar in price but they give you a little less and it's sadly not as flavorful as Whole Foods sushi. The rolls lacked seasoning and were bland. They put jalapeño wedges inside one roll, which gave the roll an odd texture. The rolls was just so bland every single one and all tasted the same. I'm wondering if the rice wasn't seasoned with vinegar correctly it's just missing major flavor."

"The food was alright, though the cheap rolls don't have descriptions in the menu of what they contain. The happy hour is a good deal with $2.50 beers and $4 rolls. Our original server forgot about us despite only 5 tables being full, but the other server was fine once we asked her to place our order."

"Wasan was a very pleasant surprise. I was looking for a place near Barclay's center as I was going to a show and found this quaint and delicious Japanese restaurant two blocks from the show. When we walked in we could hear Mary J Blige playing in the background a perfect set up for the show we were going to see. My date and I were shown to our table where there was a hand written reserved for.. and welcome, Tracy sign which was a nice personal touch. There was also a Prix Fixe Menu starting with a special app made of potato as apparently MJB loves them. Another nice touch, I thought. We ordered a bunch of small plates: tempura shrimp roll, beef and scallion, spicy pork bun, chix teriyaki bun and miso cod along with some nicely chilled Pino Grigio. All excellent. The service was great as well. The topper to the evening was when the man I assume to be the owner came over and asked if we would tell him why we were not interested in the special music Prix Fixe menu so he could learn what customers wanted etc. I loved that he was interested. He also spent time with us looking at the old photo of Manhattan they have decorating their wall and taught us a few things we didn't know. A an absolutely lovely experience. I will definitely go back!!!"

"This place is awesome. Excellent friendly customer service from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out. We loved everything we got--gyoza potstickers, red dragon roll, unagi, yellowtail, and philly. Good priced sushi and beer. Also, second order of hot sake is only $1. Definitely making this our go to sushi joint. I could tell there was a lot of return customers in there. One lady even gave our server a hug on the way out !"

"The food taste and quality here is AWFUL, at least what I had. It's the kind of food you need to drown in sauces just to make it palatable. Not even the ginger tasted fresh. The spring roll I ordered was supposed to have snow crab, imitation crab, shrimp and avocado. It was 95% imitation crab, a half shrimp, a sliver of avocado and no snow crab whatsoever (pic included). The shrimp shumai I ordered was bad. I'll let the pic speak for itself. I ordered the mimo rollwith brown rice and they came back out to tell me they were out of brown rice (at 1:30pm)."

Wagyu Gyozas: While some were quite tasteful other lack of taste all together hotate: the freshness was a climax, but not as memorable as we expected, in view of the ingredients salmon and Ikura role: fresh and tasty black cod: in any case the star of the night, fresh, incredible taste and cooked to perfection (we initially share all dishes and ended a second full passion to order it was that good) Moackchi The ambience was really quiet and romantic, which is perfect for a date night. "New management, food is vastly improved. Service is OK, but please clean the tables better. The sushi came out and looked a little odd. They use black rice that looks purple. I was a bit concerned, but all my concerns washed away with the first bite. The rolls and sushi TASTE GREAT and come in decent portions. Wait staff were good, but the kitchen took awhile to get ourorder done. Lost a star because of a sticky table. Need to wipe the tables clean and not just smear it around. Niceatmosphere and the patio is nice when the weather is nice."
