"Payable, attentive service in a beautiful corner square with cable cars and views of the Bay Bridge. We went to my wife's birthday and I had been asked to ask her what they could do to make it special. They gave us a window seat with the spectacular view described above. The hostess and our waitress were great. The wine list was good with many less well-known local wineries, including our absolute favorites from the Russian River Valley, Pellegrini (2016 unoaked chardonnay). We ordered a beet salad and the special chickpea soup to begin, both were delicious, perfect as appetizers to get you ready, but do not fill up. For dinner my wife got the wild mushroom pappardelle... she loved it (I loved to taste it), beautiful mushroom flavor in a bright cream sauce that did not exaggerate the homemade pasta. I ordered the pork on white beans with chimichurri sauce. Perfectly cooked... and the compliment of the flavors was wonderful. We also ordered a page of roasted Brussels spits...now, I love Brussels spits... how to long them. That's one of the best I ever had. We swore them. Our waitress then brought a nice piece of her tiramisu with a single candle to dessert. It was light, tender and instead of chocolate it had a wonderful caramel-based sauce...oh so good! When we arrived, there were 4 more tables with guests. When we were gone, it was full. The whole ambience and experience were perfect for us... unmarried and personal. When we left, we met a couple who wished my wife a happy birthday and asked if it was our first time. They probably shared it around the 20. Let's go. We talked about the culinary experience and the hosts as they create such a welcoming place with delicious food. It was our first time, but certainly not our last."

"We had a nice team dinner at Savona on a Tuesday evening. First impressions are 'local gem ', beautiful building and nicely appointed inside. Service is professional (maybe a little overly, a smile or sign of personality would have been nice too). You have no choice but to valet your car despite the huge parking lot ironically, you have to carefully navigate a tight alleyway of junk on your way out. Maybe the valet station is in the wrong place. The downstairs cellar and dungeon bathrooms are unique. Beverage program is well thought through and ties nicely with the menu which seems Italian ish American. They sat our incomplete party (4 of 6), and while drinks were flowing, we were not permitted to order any apps that 'professional ' service sternly informed us that the entire order needed to be entered together. Fine. Eventually everyone sat and the order went in. The food was done very well, and timing was comfortable. For starters, we had the oysters, a pizza, calamari and octopus all very good. For a main, I had the Berkshire porterhouse chop, which was over cooked, but otherwise well seasoned and delicious. We were not offered a temp option. Deserts were good I regret not doing a cheese course, maybe next time. We had a round at the bar on the way out despite constantly being in the way of everyone, it eventually quieted down enough to enjoy some conversation with our party. I would recommend Savona and will go back for sure if in the area."
