"My first time there (as well as my son) however my daughter, her boyfriend and his Mother had eaten there a few times. Most recently they were there a yr ago and with that last visit they scored this restaurant 9 to 10.I do not like to bad talk anyone or any place. I prefer to point out the good and discuss what may be undesirable in a kind way.Normally I do not write reviews, I'm not a social media person but this experience demands a review. This place is not facy, dated but clean, not very large but not tiny either. There is no formal walkin entry. You enter right into the bar area with small tables opposite bar. This place is at the edge of the main town center of Dover hidden down a side street that appears to be a dead end.(sometimes these are the best restaurants) Service was courteous but Sloooow. They were not crazy busy as there were some empty table. Very quiet attmosphere, no light music but did notice a piano. Also I think the owner or Manager sat at bar and was the loudest person there, it appeared he was entertaining his own private guests, maybe just enjoying the evening. Water, wine and bread provided quickly. Place settings dated but clean and heavy wt., cloth napkins. Sat 1 hr before appetizers arrived and another hr befor main meal. 2 hrs before our meals is kinda long and not 1 person came to acknowledge this delay. No checking in on how your meal was once served. Had to ask for more water (tap, no ice). Real heavy use of butter, overkill I feel. No salads(seriously). Appetizes we had: muscles, tender, perfect, stuffed portobello mushroon DELISH, Choriso was ok, Batter dipped Calamari not so great, sat in heavy butter sauce. Sangria so-so. Family style meal with veggie and homemade potato chips center table. SORRY, I DON'T THINK POTATO CHIPS ARE WORTHY AS A SIDE DISH IN THIS PLACE IT'S not a HOWDY-DUDY family place. (How about potato wedges at least)⁰.Entres: Battered chicken tender, tasty and small amount (3 flattened tenders on a plate sitting in heavy butter sauce.Seafood paella near excellent and a lot of it. Veggies were brocolli florets with thick crinkle carrot sticks. Veggies perfect tenderness and fresh but small, small amount. For the grand finale, the steaks, very disappointing: Rib eye that was ordered med-rare came back well done throughout and without flavorful, if it was cooked any longer it could have served as a weapon to use for lethal blows to the head. filet minon was absolutely not filet mignon, more like a sirloin with a few areas of deep grizzlle, at least meat was med rare. Surf and turf was actually surf and shrimp, no lobster tails avail, only whole lobsters(which was in the paella) the surf and shrimp was nothing to write home about. No coffee or desserts for us. So: after 3 plus hrs (due to wait time) we ended up paying $300 and walked away totally unsatisfied. Let me say I understand that globally we have shortages and sky high prices with our food. If meats are not available or too costly for a restaurant, be honest and say you don't have that cut today but our next best cut is,....................... whatever. If super busy your server may find it hard to check in with you (but at least 1 would be nice) they were not super busy, we had no one check in with us. With the price scale they had- no potato chips please, pay attention to grilling times with meats, it's the focal point of a meal. If you offer family style, how about adding a salad, get rid of the chips and add potatos.(I have never even thought of potato chips as a dish to serve in a big meal, it seems cheap) this was not a horrible place and don't mean to say it's not worthy of having a meal just know the great reputation they had in the past has seemed to slip down significantly but if it was the only place open I may go but would be very careful how I ordered, I would kindly stress how I wanted my meal cooked(within reason) Hope this helps someone with a decision to eat there or not."
