"Summer 2023 update: Tonight we went back to Root Bone (late July), not very crowded Saturday evening. I had the wedge salad which was very good, medium sized portion and the corn soufflé which was rich and decadent! My husband got the bone in pork chop which was cooked beautifully on the outer portions but was RAW around the bone, we pointed this out to the waiter and they offered us something else but it was late and we were tired and service had been a bit slow so we just wanted to finish and go home. Even though they apologized about the raw pork I was surprised when they did not take it off the bill or at least reduce the bill in any way. But, live and learn.Past posts below:This restaurant has improved a lot in the past year since I wrote a previous 3-star review so I thought I’d write an updated one.Today a friend and I went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The menu has finally changed although they’ve kept some good items like biscuits and shrimp and grits.Tuesdays they have half price bottles of wine after 4pm which was nice! We got grandmas biscuits which were excellent, deviled eggs which were also good, the salmon main course which was very good and the shrimp and grits which was huge and delish. I have left overs for dinner! They also have an amazing starter pumpkin soup that is amazing. Parking was easy because it was lunchtime, service was great and the seating outside was very nice and breezy. They have fans if it gets buggy. Will go back!"

"A very good Chinese restaurant in downtown Los Gatos. It is located on the side of the Lyndon Plaza building across from the Town Plaza with the entrance on Main Street. It is difficult on a Saturday evening to find a parking spot in the town lots behind the buildings on Santa Cruz Avenue. Arrive early with patience and you will get a parking spot eventually. The food is very good and very tasty. We were four people for dinner. We started with a large order of Chinese Chicken Salad $15.25) which was delicious, with just the right amount of a tangy sauce. It was heaped high on the plate and enough to be one of our main courses we are glad that we ordered the other dishes after this, or else we would have too much food). We also had an order of Egg Rolls 4 for $8.45), which were good, but not exceptional. The service was attentive and the food was prepared relatively quickly. The dishes were served sequentially, as they were ready in the kitchen. Each dish was delicious. The Orange Chicken it was not on the dinner menu, but they made it for us) was fresh and nicely flavored with orange. The Mango Lamb $19.95) was exceptional! Lamb with a wonderful sauce with mangos cooked in the sauce. Fantastic! We also had the Iron Plate Beef $18.25) which, while it is sizzling plate type of dish, sizzled in the kitchen and not at the table. However the taste was great and it was a generous portion. Steamed rice was $2.25/person. I recommend this restaurant. We will be back. They accept reservations, but it was not crowded tonight a Saturday night at 6:30 pm)."
