"We had dinner at Imoto last night. We arrived a bit early and our table was not quite ready so we accepted seats at the sushi bar. This was a great idea that I would highly recommend. First, watching the preparations is quite interesting. Second, the noise level in the sushi bar is significantly less than in the restaurant proper. So, we could actually have a conversation during dinner. We started with the Edamame that was seasoned with sweet soy and sea salt. This is a preparation that I have not had before. It is very good, but a little messy. Make sure to ask for a spare napkin. We then had the Rock Shrimp Tempura with spicy aioli and Asian slaw. It was served right out of the fryer and was terrific. There was a second sauce that was served that was soy based (I think). Next came the Lettuce Wraps which had grilled chicken thigh, plum, black garlic, and cashew. It was a delightful blend of warm and savory with cold and crunchy. YUM. The finished the evening with nigiri: Toro, Yellowtail, and Snapper. Make sure to order fresh wasabi with your nigiri. It makes the world of difference. The only think that I would like is a better selection of California wines on the menu."
