"This place has potential. I was visiting Middletown for the weekend. Walking in, the place smelled smokey--like cigarettes, not smokey food. That made me nauseous. The floor was sticky, and my shoes were sticky, leaving the place. The place was very dark; I like seeing what I eat. We could only view the menu online; I want a hard copy menu when I visit a restaurant. I don't like to use my phone. They were going to close for renovation, and their menu was limited, but the hostesses didn't tell us this. We were already seated and received our drinks; otherwise, I would have left. The portions of food were large. My friends and I ordered lobster mac cheese, chicken waffles (only wings because the menu was limited), mashed potatoes, mac cheese, greens, sauteed spinach, green beans, and potato salad. The food was just okay. I expect soul food to be very flavorful. To me, it tasted like Boston Market. My friend said the food tasted like her mom's cooking, but I wouldn't pay for that. I felt nauseous and was still hungry at the end of the night, and I bought myself something to eat from somewhere else. Lastly, my friend bought a banana pudding to take home, and there were no bananas in it!Parking: Free 4-hour limit public parking lot."
