"I don't ask much from my sweet and sour chicken only that it satisfies my once a month craving. I know that I won't be presented with big chunks of chicken like I remember from my youth on the East Coast, so I've become accustomed with the low ratio of chicken to breading situation. Zen Asian Bistro was no different in that regard; however, they did hit the mark on the flavor of the sauce and the variety of vegetables that came with the dish. Lunch time gets you salad and an egg roll as well. It was well worth it and the food was delicious and the service was attentive. Plus, it's always nice to have the option of ordering sushi, which i did partake of a California maki (roll). They could've rolled me out of their dining room after stuffing my face! I'm surprised it wasn't busier."

"I was here on Monday with a friend and we both liked our meals (she had pork katsu and I had the chicken katsu don . The chicken katsu don was very good, although I wish it had been crunchier. Generous portions, too. We ended the meal with the red bean tempura fried ice cream (Amazing! and the banana tempura. I recommend both highly. The service was underwhelming but not bad. I will definitely be returning to this place for what I'm sure will be another delicious meal."

"Ordered from here yesterday, and this was our experience with the food:Gyoza seemed to be deep fried, as the dough had the texture of funnel cake.The sweet sour chicken was way too overcooked- some pieces were even burnt.The miso soup was decent, but a bit tangy.The eggdrop soup had an alarming sour taste to it.The yaki udon was ok, have had better, but it had the least issues and is the reason this is 2 stars instead of 1.Honestly, I don't think we'll ever order from here again. Every single dish was mediocre at best, and the quality just seemed very poor overall. Even if the cook on the food was better, the quality of the product itself just seemed very cheap."

"Very nice high-end thai restaurant. I've been to my fair share of Thai spots, but I would say this one is on the higher end side. The decor is very nice and everything was clean. The staff were all friendly and attentive. I split a few dishes like usual. Started out with the golden bags, then the chicken Tom yum, crispy duck salad, and finished with the mango and sticky rice. The golden bags were adorable. Crispy on the outside, tender filling, and they looked just like tiny bags. The chicken Tom yum was nice and creamy, and the chicken was plentiful. The duck salad is where I focused my attention. Crispy duck, fresh greens, and an amazing vinegar taste dressing. I was very impressed overall with it. Desert was amazing as well. Mango sticky rice is always a favorite with me. I would say that this is overall a great spot for good Thai. Would be great for a date, or any occasion for that matter."

"Had been to the Brooklyn sprouting of this spot and had a real fun time so wanted to check out the SF spot. Absolutely delish, and fresh feeling! Fully stuffed myself but still felt even and light despite the heavy flavors. Started with the vinegar peanuts and smashed cucumbers, the vinegary sauce in the peanuts was definitely a highlight, ended up dipping the cucumbers in the peanut’s sauce, great combo. Cucumber base was a bit more oily than I would want but still tastes great! Mongolian Beans were spicy but pleasant, had a fun crunch to it and packed with flavor. Tiki Pork Belly might have been the best combo of crunch on the outside mixed with fatty goodness on the inside, my partner and I both agreed it was the best pork belly we had ever had. Was skeptical about all the sweetness surrounding it esp with the cherries but it was subtle and added a lot. Lamb Dumplings might have been our fav, felt like the most complex flavor and was a fun fusiony Mediterranean-East Asian crossover, almost reminded me of Nepalese momo’s ?? The fennel laden tzatziki-like sauce mixed with a soy based sauce ?? Heaven! The chilled Thai peanut noodles were so fresh and the sauce proportions evened everything out beautifully. Fresh fresh fresh. We actually sent back the Sichuan Carbonara and switched it out with the chilled noodles. Highly recommend steering clear of the Sichuan Carbonara, tasted watery and bland overall and also had elements of soap?? (Don’t think the soap flavor was the sichuan peppercorn because I love that stuff) keeping it at 5 stars because the switch out to the chilled noodles was incredible. 100% will be returning."
