"I visited Nexus Brewery Smokehouse on Broadway for the first time this past Sunday afternoon for a takeout order of Prime Brisket and a side. I sampled the potato salad and the coleslaw. The potato salad was not to my taste, too peppery. I chose the coleslaw, even though I have to say it was more like a cabbage salad, than coleslaw. The pieces were very large. I had to re-chop it when I got home. The sides were not my biggest disappointment, THE BRISKET WAS. I ordered a pound. It was cut in VERY thick slices. It was tough (dry) and had gristly fat not just the regular fat you expect in brisket which is normally very palatable that you can chew up and swallow. I cut the meat into bite size pieces and still had to chew and chew and then spit out the gristly meat remains. We did not get to consume much as a lot went in the trash. On some of the meat, I was able to chew and swallow, I could tell the brisket had a good flavor but that was lost to the other aspects. Some of this situation is on me, because I am used to getting brisket that is cut thin and is very tender, I never thought to state when I made my order to cut it thin. Brisket is not cheap. Nexus prices, I find, are comparable at $15 a half pound. I didn’t have a problem with that.Because I do like my brisket thin and very tender, I won’t be going back to Nexus."
