"TLDR: Hotel is made for couples We stayed at the Granada for one night while passing through the area. Purposely staying on a Thursday to spend some time at the SLO farmer 's market. Location is right in the middle of where the farmer 's market is, close to all the shops, bars and restaurants. Parked and never had to go to my car until we left. There is not enough parking for all the rooms and the driveway is super narrow not ideal for SUVs. Additional parking is a block away and they will reimburse or validate. The hotel is very unique. I was told that it was built in the 1920 's as a hotel, transformed into low income housing then back into a hotel. The hotel has a restaurant on one side and a little speakeasy on the other. Upstairs where the rooms are, the middle area is a common area with soft seating as well as a terrace overlooking the street with a gas fireplace. We ate our dinner and the continental breakfast they offer with the room stay out on the terrace. Loved this area! We stayed in a queen room (no fireplace). The room itself was not large but enough space for 2 people with minimal luggage. There is one soft chair, no closet. The toiletries provided were spa quality in the form of refillables. The reason for the statement that the hotel is made for couples is because the shower is fully exposed. The walls of the shower are visible to the room and are made of glass almost all the way around. There is one room where one side had 3 long window like openings but still completely visible to anyone in the room. In other rooms, the shower also has windows to the outside however those windows do not face anything so no one can see. So if you are staying with a friend or sibling or someone other than your partner, be prepared to be seen. They provide a bunch of snacks and drinks on a tray for purchase as well as a lovers kit . I suggest going through to make sure everything is there as soon as you get in. We got charged for gummy bears that weren 't on the tray when we arrived. I just thought they must have run out but then was charged. There is a $20 amenity fee but the only amenities were a glass of wine upon check in and the breakfast. Maybe the common areas are also included in that? If you like funky, unique hotels and like it when your partner watches you shower, then this is the place for you!"

"Hello, I ate the other day at Lake Tahoe HK. So here is some constructive criticism coming from a newly retired teacher who is barely making a decent monthly pension , so I have to watch my pennies for sure now : 1. The waiters need to take off those suspenders and get a different tailored shirt to fit. I felt I was eating at a “Lumberjacks restaurant .” 2. The appetizer wagyu meatballs and sauce were amazing . However, I wish that it was on the menu as an actual “meal” and Spaghetti noodles served with it for just a few more dollars which would be an affordable meal for those on a limited income . 3. On your menu, the fish dishes were the cheapest for the most part . Well, I am allergic to all fish dishes . Therefore , I had to go with a $20 more dollar meal . I feel that I am being penalized financially for having to choose a beef dish over fish dish. Hence , the spaghetti and meatballs would have been an amazing choice. 4. Since I had to choose a beef dish ,I chose the New York steak which was amazing for $65. However, I got no sides on this plate . This steak should have for price a little scoop of potatoes , small carrots, small potatoes included like the Beef Wellington comes with it . 5. As a result of not getting sides with my New York , I had to order sides . Each side was $14.95 and I had two …so almost $30 dollars more added to my Steak of $65. So now I was up to almost $100 for only my one meal !!! Again, not good for those that want to experience HK ,but are on a fixed monthly income just trying to see if you can afford what you are buying ! 6. So, the steak should have come as I said above with a small scoop of potatoes and small carrot which would have saved me $30 dollars. 7. As for the sides , we had Mac n cheese which was not that moist and noodles are too big in size . So more of a creamier sauce and smaller noodles are needed ….just felt like I could choke at any time . 8. We also had the other side the purée cream"

"My friend and I had dined at Gibson a few times prior to the pandemic and we were generally pleased with the food, service, and ambience. This review will address our first intra pandemic visit to this restaurant. Although I would have given Gibson 5 stars, based on the tasting menu, the wait staff, the location close to several downtown theaters, and our pre pandemic experiences here, I am deeply disturbed by the lack of response of Gibson 's management, a fact that completely overwhelmed my positive views of this restaurant. I waited three months before writing this review, in the hope that someone from Gibson would get back to me. I 'm still waiting. When I made a reservation for two at Gibson during SF Restaurant Week in Autumn 2021, I had to pay $20 per guest to hold the spot. No problem there. However, the reservation website indicated that this amount $40 total would be applied as a credit to our bill. Not only was the $40 not credited that evening, but I tried to reach the restaurant 's management by phone 3 times in the subsequent two weeks and succeeded only in leaving voicemails, to which I never received a response. While I fully understand that restaurants have been under enormous financial pressure during the pandemic, scamming customers with a refundable reservation charge that is never refunded and not returning your guests ' calls about correcting this scam are unacceptable behaviors unworthy of an otherwise fine downtown SF restaurant."

"my mother was in the city that visited for christmas. we were looking for a nice place to eat Christmas. I had really great experiences on the dach with friends for drinks and snacks before, so I was excited to try the dining room experience below. Unfortunately, for the $75 Preset menus the price was not worth what ever. I know it's the holiday and most companies are short employees, but our drinks lasted just 15 minutes. I looked at the bar to see what the hold-up was and it looked like the bar-tender was too busy with the few people sitting on the bar to chat as drinks while he was talking. the place was almost empty when we arrived at 3:30 a.m. and not even half full when we left at 5:30 a.m. our server was super sweet and made sure that we had everything we needed and apologized for the late drink we had ordered. had never seen a manager, even though he checked for tables. the food itself was not worth the price. the gnocchi served was wonderful, but all my sides were cold, the sink of my mother was dry and had not much taste. And the cake for dessert was quite tasteless and seemed somehow stale as it was pulled out of a freeze cabinet. I am not sure whether the food was prepared for a special celebrationsag was a rethink for her team and or there was not enough staff to properly execute the meals served to christmas; but I was extremely underwhelmed and disappointed. I have always braided over everything with the brand name “Virgin” that are associated with it, but for a special meal from the year my mother and I wanted to fully immerse and have the wonderful vacation eating coma feels of, we do not. I hope that this situation next year will be a little more thought and effort in the service of the guests, what they are paying for especially when the congratulate is included."
