"We love authentic, homestyle NEW MEXICAN style cuisine...Julia 's is one of the few that do it well in the North Denver area...and yes, there 's lot 's of Mexican bean and cheese places...some pretty bad, and almost none doing finer New Mexican style. Julia 's has a authentic touch of New Mexico. I like Tres Hermano 's, or the Shrimp Burrito as personal favorites...and often finish with classic Flan for dessert. My wife likes the blue corn enchiladas too. Discovered Julia 's at her original small place just up the street in early 2000 's...and then her crew catered our wedding in 2001... we hope to have her cater the re-enactment someday! When we can 't get away to Northern New Mexico, Julia 's is our fix! And, it 's in my old North Denver neighborhood... Julia 's is a great survivor in an area--part of the ambience and personality that started the rebirth in this now popular Highlands area. Any bad reviews? I 'd take with a grain of salt, or if eating at a typical restaurant, just take it with your food... But at Julia 's we like the sense of balance, natural flavors and spices, great red and green chili recipes that set off her recipes. With rare exception, Julia IS the cook overseeing the preparation, sometimes waiting tables, managing the bar, and the help...which may lead to a delicate balancing act in running a small, family style restaurant, but we like that. No, It 's not your typical, Senor Salt, Cheese, and Mexican food (and profit) Emporium ! Anyway, at Julia 's, Good, fresh, house margaritas are a favorite starter for us. And enjoyed the guacamole and chips ...freshly made. Looking forward to spring and the open patio... But mostly, it 's Julia 's authentic red and green chili, fresh ingredients, whole New Mexico style pintos, plus the overall freshness, on-the-spot preparation, and quality which are the big draw...like a visit to favs in Taos or Sante Fe, but within 10 minutes of home."
