"Never made it to the food. Teenage waiter brought stale chips with salsa while I waited forever for the other person to bring our water. I asked if they made the chips in house. He sad they did. I asked if he could bring some fresh ones, so I could compare to see if they were any different, or if it was just me. He said he couldn’t do that. I said of course you can do that. If I were to ask for more chips later, they’d be free. What’s the difference? He said no. I said Adios. I’m the customer, kid. If I’m not right, I’m leaving."

"There are lots of good mexican places in the area, but El Patron is clearly the best. I always tell myself I'm going to have leftovers, but the takeout never lasts because it's just so tasty. No weak points on the menu, plus the drinks are affordable and with high variety. The staff are also superheroes, honestly I have no idea how they give such good service even when the restaurant is totally packed. When I need a break from going to breweries, this is always my favorite spot to eat on a night out."

"My favorite place in Chapel Hill, do not let the lower rating make you think this isn’t the BEST Mexican restaurant in Chapel Hill. I’ve been here more than 15 times in the years I was a student at UNC. The chicken enchiladas are so good. If you read the lower reviews it’s from years ago and it’s about the service and it being slow (I never had issues years back but I assure you the service is amazing). The margarita pitcher is nice, but get the chose 3 chose 2 sides of chicken enchiladas. It’s so much food for an excellent value. You will not finish it, so split with person. Excellent value basically 6 bucks a person for a lot of food. The salsa table is nice, they refill the chips. I WISH I could give this place a higher rating. Also, they have actual hot salsa, the habanero has a very nice kick to it and if they have an excellent selection of other salsas."

"Wow, super impressed. The salsa keeps you on your toes, so flavorful and with the right amount of kick! I had the 'Paco Rita ' and for dinner, 'Paco 's Choice ' which was adobada, carne asada, beans, rice, and tortillas. Do not waste your time on this, go ALL IN on the Abodaba entree...I 'm telling you, it is SO GOOD. I 'm honestly worried now that I know how close they are to me, where can I buy elastic waistband pants???"

"All I can say is wow! I could easily be a regular at this special place if I had the time. The family that owns runs this joint is wonderful. It truly is a family owned and operated establishment. Small, cozy, and safe! I stopped in for a quick beer or 2 the other day, and to my surprise, there were 10+ people in there for the nightly Jeopardy viewing/ out loud answering. Absolutely wonderful. The food is fresh and delicious. Cold beers and drinks. It always feels like you've been invited into the home of the friendliest neighbor you've ever had."
