Service is horribly slow, busy is understandable but if your kitchen can't meet the demands of the people you seat unless they're willing to wait over 2 hours for entrees, maybe don't sit that many tables? "I relocated to the area five months ago and have dined at this restaurant three or four times. Each visit has been a delightful experience. The food, service, and value are all outstanding. However, the atmosphere could benefit from some modernization. Last night, I had the fish and chips, and it was amazing! The portions of cod were quite generous, and the fries were hot and crispy. We will certainly be coming back!"

"We had a Saturday night 8:30 reservation for 8 for a mixed age birthday dinner. It was busy but not that busy to let us know they would not be ready for us to sit down until close to 9:30. The person I asked to help on the floor was obnoxious and dismissed my inquiry to speak to the host/hostess or manager. The problem that I had was that NOT ONE person had the decency to alert us to the fact that we should get a snack at the bar etc. The grandmother had a cane and we were famished and a bit tired. With that said, thank goodness that the food was delicious and enjoyed by all. I had a cosmo, the mussels appetizer and the Greek salad with a BIG piece of salmon on top that were all fresh, tasty and well priced. I am so thankful that everyone was patient and we all left happy and well nourished. If the staff would have been a bit more attentive to our party that many are in the food industry and tip VERY well, I would've given 5 stars, but staff attitude and attentiveness matters in the service industry-almost as important as the food for some patrons."

"However, we had to wait a long time for our food, which was understandable given the busy atmosphere. The order was split, with the second half of our food taking at least 30 minutes longer to arrive. I was a bit disappointed, though, as I never saw our original bartender again after she took our food order. We were never offered a second round of drinks, and our glasses had been empty for at least half an hour. Despite this, I could tell that the bartender was skilled, and it might have just been bad timing that affected our service. I would definitely give the restaurant another chance, even though I was left wondering about the poor service I experienced. Overall, I think Nickel City deserves another opportunity to impress."

"very disappointed since we celebrated our 53rd anniversary. must have had a new cook. the appetizer (baked mushes) were wet and tasteless. the eiling rollatini was hot outside and cold inside. the garnel sauce was terrible. the garnels were cooked differently than usual (nun and limp,) the scampi sauce was so ovoid, screaming, and dominant plate, and the linguini was lost in the shackle! waiter did not visit table to ask how it was eating; we were so disappointed, but the restaurant was soon so crowded that we ate what we could and left asap."

"Excellent restaurant on so many levels. Our waiter was polite, attentive and got everything correct. Food was superbly cooked and delicious-had pumpkin ravioli, salmon with artichokes, side order of escarole and beans. Dessert was pistachio tartufo. Restaurant was very clean, tables were spread out, social distancing guidelines followed. Pleasant atmosphere. Friday night entertainment was the best I’ve heard in years. Franco sang Italian songs and there was a dance floor!!This restaurant has got to be one of the best in Nassau County. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would."

"Yum yum!. I love family owned restaurants, the extra attention to the details really makes all the difference. I have eaten many of the items on the menu, and have my favorites for sure. One word BLUE CHEESE, homemade and just about anything can be deeper into it fries, pizza, fingers, wings, even subs). I also love the Popeyes pizza which of course is made with the blue cheese). Other favorites are homemade lasagne, chicken finger subs you can get blue chz on it too) oh and eppies mini personal pizza wrap can be of any kind of pizza). Gotta try it, not just one but two or three times."
