"I've never been disappointed with the food or service at Hudson House. The space, the former Nyack Village Hall, and a firehouse is beautiful on the French Bistro style, with a huge wall painting of the Hudson River with the old tappan Zee Bridge overhangs shore to shore. The service is casual / friendly, without being lax or unprofessional. The menu is varied. Not French. Not Americans, whatever that is. Always something interesting either in the menu or in the specials. The Steak au Poivre, which is on the menu, is one of the best in the area. Beautiful selection of wines on the glass. Also a large selection of cheese. The owner, Matt Hudson, is the pastry cook and its desserts are equally fabulous. Full disclosure: I've known the Hudson family for almost 40 years. But if I didn't feel that bad about the Hudson House, I wouldn't write a critique. But I feel very much at this place, it is one of our *Occcasion restaurants* reserved for special celebrations and only because we want to treat our self to a beautiful meal. I also like to sit at the Happy Hour bar and have the oysters that are especially between 5 and 7 p.m. Yum."
