"My experience at Passione Caffè in her beautiful two-storey, well-furnished café at 91 Shattuck Square was just wonderful. The staff was friendly, fast and courteous and the food, drinks and desserts were delicious! I highly recommend Passione Caffè for those looking for a fast and tasty lunch (or breakfast / brunch every day), snacks and studies, or for an authentic Italian coffee. Do not miss the great Happy Hour / Aperativo offers between 4-7PM! It goes almost without mentioning, but Passione Caffè is absolutely true for his slogan: “A corner of Italy in Berkeley.” From food and drink to the atmosphere and service, this is the only really Italian café I found in Berkeley! And this comes from over a year experience life and travel in Italy! In addition to the beautiful architecture and interior architecture of Passione Caffè – not to mention its convenient location next to downtown Berkeley BART – I would like to show some highlights on the menu. The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and ready-made sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! The spaghetti with meatballs, her only American dish, is dying! The pizzas are also made with homemade dough and gluten-free options are offered. Try one with fresh Prosciutto, Mozzarella and Arugula! The fresh panini with Italian meat and cheese complete the lunch menu. It is possible to have a filling dinner for $7-15, which is definitely cheap from Berkeley standards! A serious final highlight was the handcrafted Gelato, produced by the Italian co-owner Eleanora Cercatore in the house. There are 12 flavors, weekly with gluten-free options that are displayed on a beautiful rotating wheel. The Gelato is spectacularly delicious— I can't recommend it very much! For your time, money and fine Italian bites and drinks, I can't recommend a Berkeley café more than Passione Caffè! Please pay them a visit soon – you will not be disappointed!"
