"I never write reviews of this nature, but this was easily the worst dining experience I’ve had. I have never experienced the kind of service I was given last night at any decent establishment. The “manager” and his team of hostesses are untrained in basic hospitality principles, especially when it comes to service, care, and overall guest satisfaction. They were unaccommodating, rude, and practically yelling at our party of 4 at the bar upstairs. I specifically requested a table upstairs to accommodate a party of 4 for a birthday. This is something I noted on Resy when I made the reservation a week in advance. We were told there wasn’t availability and we would have to wait 20 mins for a table to free up, which we politely accepted. I have been to Mamo several times, and waiting for a table to free up has never been an issue before. I’m not sure if management has changed hands recently, but the manager working the evening of 6/24/23 proceeded to then argue with me about how we needed to accept the table downstairs and if not then we were welcome to leave. The ultimatum was aggressive and uncalled for as there were many tables waiting to pay as disclosed to us earlier by another hostess. We accepted the table downstairs due to the birthday, and to our surprise, no one else was seated next to us downstairs. It was completely empty with the exception of one other table there who left soon after we sat down. We didn’t even order dessert due to how unpleasant the experience was for us. They offered us dessert on the house but the experience was already so tainted. We didn’t even receive a candle/celebratory chant with it which is why I chose Mamo for this birthday in the first place (I had also noted this for the restaurant a week in advance). All in all, I was truly shocked and embarrassed at how unprofessional management was. I didn’t appreciate being yelled at in front of dining guests as well as my own friends who were visiting town. Anyone who knows anything about hospitality or regularly dines at premium places should avoid this place. “Trendy”, low class, and I don’t recommend."
