"This is a fun restaurant and we all enjoyed it. The food and drinks were good. The billl added up to a fairly expensive meal, but we all felt happy when leaving. I am 63 and I was there with three younger adults (late 20's). Were arrived at 6pm because we were seeing at show at the Pantages Theater and you can walk to the theater from there. There was only one other couple in the entire restaurant at 6pm so I guess eating early in LA is not a thing (we are from OC). I mention my age because they had loud rap music playing in the restaurant, and since there were no other diners to drown it out, it dominated the room and certainly not to my taste. The 20 somethings with me thought it was OK but were surprised with the choice due to the feeling of the restaurant was a more simple ,warm vibe. We each had a drink and discussed the menu, which was interesting and set up to share at the table. Our waitress was very good and responsive. The food was excellent. My daughter is Gluten free due to migraines, so the waitress gave her the selections to meet her needs and modified one of the dishes so she could share it with us. We had the Local Tuna, which was good, especially with the gnocco Fritto (Like the dough from egg rolls) the fish was a bit fishy, but still very good. Warm Cabbage Salad one of the stand outs and a must order. Everyone liked it! Sweet potato Purple sweet potato basically a deconstructed loaded baked potato the potato was very creamy, but not a stand out. Shitake Mushroom This WAS a stand out with delicious garlic butter with small warm baguette we joked that we were going to blow away the other patrons around us at the theater after this...but worth it. Crispy Quail Good, nicely cooked and moist I probably would not order this again. California Rockfish This was good, quite spicy and perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, we were all quite full by this time, so eating the most expensive item on the menu last was not smart."
