"I haven't been to Sanford in decades, and it was wonderful to meet old friends at this vestige of Milwaukee elegant dining. So many of the great white tablecloth restaurants of lore are gone: Grenadier's, Osteria del Mondo, Mike and Anna's,Fleur de Lis, etc. Sanford now remains on top of the Milwaukee restaurant scene. It is the best restaurant in Milwaukee, and our dinner was perfect, and I use that word the way it was meant. It went by without a flaw. The four course set menu on Saturday night at $85 a person is reasonable for this kind of gourmet cooking. Service is elegant and professional. Because Sanford does not have the space for a sit down bar, it can come across as stuffy, but that is not the intent of the staff. Thus, don't be intimidated and feel the need to be hush hush. This is Milwaukee, and fun is inherent in everything you should do. Sanford is a great restaurant. Go, dine well, and have a good time."
