"I want to first say Thank You for the amazing experience! My girlfriend recommended this place which I’ve driven by so many times but have never gone in. Some nice features is that they are located across from Alewife Station which gives access to the redline. It also is located right at the start of route 2 and alewife parkway for even more convenience. There are multiple parking lots outside which means no hassle to find parking! The occasion was my 22nd birthday and we decided to go and have seafood here at Summer Shack! The hostess’s were very kind as they sat us further away from what seemed to be a work party at the bar section that were a bit loud. I find this courteous to the guests as it shows respect to parties who would prefer to avoid larger crowds. The drinks were great and the appetizers were delicious! We started off with clams and oysters both on the half shell. All the raw seafood was FRESH and flavorful! I’ve always been a seafood guy and it was my special day so I got a 1 1/2 pound lobster which was full of meat! For the people who are like “it’s too much work to get the meat out and it’s too messy” please, just order off the kids menu if you want to complain. Some of us enjoy the excitement in eating lobster. For dessert, i got a slice of cheesecake with a candle to blow out on top which was an amazing touch! We also had a youngster with us which they provided coloring paper and extra napkins which is another thumbs up for me! I would like to thank the Summer Shack staff for such an amazing 22nd birthday experience and would highly recommend for any celebration or just a night out! "I look forward to dinner with friends for wein, good food and talk, but restaurant was very busy and very loud, so it was difficult to hear the person about the table. service was good and my dinner was very good and all the others in the party seemed satisfied. only the complaining was the way we were thrown out. two server came by and began to delete the table and when I said annoyed: “I guess they want us to go,” said a server, they had another reservation and they needed the table. well, that we did not dessert or ordered another drink or they had a problem. our group will not return."

"Great atmosphere. Very good food. Nice staff a tiny bit laxed but nothing to really complain about. Prices are a bit high 12-19 dollars for sandwiches. But taste great. I would come back. (Edit to add cause I cant reply to the owner that replied to me. I had the lobster roll and it was fantastic. A little difficult to manage out of that pretty bowl it's served in but I managed. My niece had the fried fish sandwich said she liked and I forget what else she had but my mom had the clam chowder. Lemme tell you. She said it was full of clams. I tried one very small bite skimmed pretty much from the top and got a clam. I say again I would return)"

"Took our CA visitors for late lunch/early dinner. The waiter was awesome so was the food. Clam chowder, whole clam dinner so lightly battered it melted in your mouth, burgers were perfection sweet potato fries. Not greasy, just delish. Steak cooked to exact temp. We love a booth, but they have high tops outside dining as well. We were not rushed out. Recommend to anyone, but make a reservation."

"Year after year I travel to Mac 's in Ptown for dinner. I always ask my server what I should get out of my top 3 pics...it 's extremely difficult because I want everything on the menu! No matter what I served it 's always amazing! The service is excellent, our server was extremely attentive, checking in frequently, but never bothering us during a bite! The seafood is right out of the ocean fresh...you can taste the sea. The flavor profile of each dish is sublime. I can 't wait to visit again! Kid-friendliness: children 's menu available. "Beware showing up on Friday evening if you are not a familiar friend of the place. My kids and I were told 15 minutes when we arrived even though we had an open table reservation. A number of people showed up after us and were welcomed with a pat on the back. After 15 minutes we were told another 15 while new arrivals were walked to their tables. I had words with the host but he couldn't care less."

"Food, great, staff very attentive, atmosphere very warm. Prices good but I didn’t like the fact that I had to pay a premium for using my credit card. Many restaurants are starting to do this and it’s a turn off for me. I don’t like to think I have to carry that much cash with me so I don’t have to pay a premium to eat. I would rather like to have a restaurant give me a discount if I used cash and not have to pay more if I don’t. It’s the server who is hurt by this policy. It limits the appeal when there are so many other good restaurants that don’t charge these fees. It should be borne by the restaurant as a cost and appeal for going there."

"I worked here in 2021 and several things happened. 1. I got into a minor car accident while backing up my car to head out on a delivery. My car hit a car that was owned by the family running the neighboring store. They were very nice and understanding about it. The parking area behind the shops is absolutely horrid to pull in and out of. Theres no parking lines, there’s dumpsters in weird places, and blind spots all over. I had several other near-collisions during the three months I worked there. When I was exchanging insurance info with the owner of the car I backed into, the owner of the Cottage came outside and yelled at me for standing around talking to people when I was supposed to be going to deliver a pizza. When I explained what just happened, she asked me to just give the pizza to the other driver so he could deliver it. No consideration for the accident or for me. 2. I had some kind of weird stalker situation going on. Someone came to the shop while I was out on a delivery and told one of the owners that I was “suicidal on Instagram” this was completely false. I don’t know who knew where I worked or why this person would tell my bosses that I was having thoughts of harming myself, but the boss refused to tell me who came in and said that about me. So now I don’t know who the crazy stalker is. 3. I quit two weeks after the car accident when another delivery driver almost hit me head-on while he was leaving and I was entering the parking lot. The food is okay. It’s not bad. But working here was unpleasant. The woman who owns this place is extremely bad tempered and rude."
