"Disappointed in this restaurant. Went on recommendation of a friend, but found food to be bland and unexciting. Was not able to sit at counter since it was booked, though had requested it. Had 'signature ' rice dish with mushrooms and it turned out to be just a sticky pot with steamed mushrooms on top no taste at all. Dishes were poorly timed so ended up waiting a long time in between. We were new to this restaurant, but they did not seem interested in having repeat customers not special experience."

"Hiroki doesn’t just make food, he writes stories with his food. The May Omakase was just outstanding. I can list an itemized sequence of the food we ate but that’s almost beyond the point. It was an enchanting narrative from start to finish- embracing locavore sourcing, Shojin Ryori practices and truly inventive global cuisine (Pistachio Miso!? all in a setting that felt like a friends home at the bar seating. Special shout out to the entire staff who help create an incredible atmosphere. Grateful to dine here and I hope you do too."

"Amazing sets of little dishes and then tempura one by one. It was impressive that only one person was frying the tempura with one assistant plating them in front of you. There were 9 of us for the first lunch seating. Service was fantastic. Tempura was hot. I was warned, but it was too good not to eat everything right away. I burned my tongue but I was happy. If you love tempura, spend the time and money on the reasonable lunch reservation."

"The food was good, but the portion was a bit small. The way the staff treated my friend and me was unacceptable. We arrived at 5:30 and were told the restaurant was fully booked after 7:00. This was rude and I have never experienced such strict time limits at a restaurant before. My thoughts: - It would be better to communicate this policy on the reservation page. - American restaurants usually handle customers arriving late or leaving early without issue. - All customers should be treated equally, regardless of their status as regulars. The staff could have handled the situation better by not making us feel rushed and by seating us away from the noisy regular customers. Overall, the staff's behavior was disappointing."
